Personal injury claims remain high

In January of 2005 it was written (and found within the confines of The Insurance Journal), “In 2003 more than 25% of car accidents resulted in Injury Accident Claims“.PLUS: In a 2004 study (executed via Trends In Auto Injury Claims) it was stated, “Personal injury claims remain high”.Records indicate that many people involved in car accidents, are embarrassed to seek medical attention because of what they’ve determine to be bumps and bruises, and they didn’t seem serious enough or because the onset of the symptoms did not immediately occur.HOWEVER: Just as soon as possible, after an accident, an initial evaluation at a local Emergency Room is positively recommended!THE REASON FOR THAT IS: X-rays can be performed which will generally rule out broken bones or fractures. PLUS: Muscle relaxants and anti-inflammatory medications can immediately be prescribed so as to address muscle strains and/or pulls such as whiplash. If the onset of a serious injury is delayed, the failure to have a medical complaint recorded will affect your physical recovery. Back and neck injuries (like a herniated disc) are not always immediately determinable. They are often initially diagnosed as “Soft Tissue” injuries before an MRI or a CT Scan reveals a disc injury. Normal x-ray film - - cannot diagnose a disc injury! So ensure you use a good solicitor!

One Stroke at a Time

“One stroke at a time.” In an interview, Tiger Woods shared this simple formula for success. He further revealed that his habit to focus on the task at hand and not the previous stroke nor the next stroke keeps him self-disciplined. Tiger’s recent 4th win of the Masters and being the first golfer to achieve this accomplishment before the age of 30 reaffirms his personal success formula.

The Tiger Woods “One stroke at a time” is a brilliant example of short-term goal setting and more importantly goal accomplishment. Each stroke is a short-term goal. The obstacles are viewed from hazards to weather conditions. Solutions appear to be instantaneously created with action steps quickly following. With the completion of each short-term goal, Tiger Woods is that much closer to completing the long-term goal of completing and hopefully winning the game. Each completed game then reverts to a short term goal allowing him to work towards his long term goal or dream of being the very best in the game of golf ~ past, present and future.

Goal setting is a behavior that when used consistently and correctly guarantees success 98% of the time. The problem is that many individuals look to long term goals and do not include supporting short-term goals. Short-terms goals, “one stroke at a time,” are the foundation for the successful completion of long-term goals.

Tiger Woods’ positive attitude about the past and the future also greatly contribute to his ability to achieve his goals. Attitudes are really habits of thought. Tiger’s habit of thought by focusing on the present allows him to stay self-disciplined and self-directed thereby accomplishing both short and long-term goals.

With over 20 years of practice, Tiger has mastered the physical skill of golf and has developed extensive knowledge about this sport through years of application. His skill level supports his positive attitudes and goal setting behavior. Finally, Tiger Woods also revealed that even though becoming the best golfer the world has ever seen is his long-term goal, he realizes that his life must have balance. We can see and hear of this balance when Tiger talks about family and friends.

Everyone from business leaders to individuals can take a lesson from this young man on how to begin to accomplish your goals both personally and professionally ~

- Develop and maintain positive attitudes

- Become an expert

- Stay balanced and remember ~

Skiing Reductions Can Be Booked Thanks to the Economic Crisis

Filed under:Internet Travel Resources, A Life Of Leisure — posted on January 27, 2009 @ 4:58 pm

With the sterling fetching only slightly more than the Euro at Travelex, one would guess there would be a lot of real bargains to be booked in alpine ski resorts this Christmas as potential snowboarders stick in the UK to combat the crunch. Provisional numbers barely published highlight that skiing resorts are 83 percent booked over the Xmas and New year time period. 15 % up on the identical time period last season.

You’ll have some chance in January which currently shows a 37 39 % reserve level. The only signs of a downturn is over the significant school ski vacation month which has 67 % reservations, 5 percent less than last ski season. Reservation centers in the ski areas of Grand Massif, Les Orres, Val Cenis and Le Grand-Bornand have noted good reservations in November encouraged by the fantastic early winter snow fall. Tignes-les-Brevieres has stronger inquiries in comparison to last winter, whilst Le Tour experienced a fine New Year and Christmas as did Alps Chamonix.

But there is substantial call for bigger catered chalets, 5 to 13 beds, as people group-up to save the pennies. Early evidence highlights that DIY snowboarding trips are holding up, perhaps evidence that earnest skiers will not sacrifice their skiing holiday. Reservations for tour operators are lower than last year.

If It’s Worth Dreaming, It’s Worth Writing Down

You have the idea so therefore you have within you the ability to make it a reality. Such is one of life’s great truths. This may not always appear to be the case, but rest assured deep down you’ve got all the ability it takes.

The problem is that far to often we don’t lay a foundation so that we have in place what it will take to make our idea a reality. First of all, we have to understand that things often don’t just happen. They are the result of following out carefully planned steps and taking daily action until we have reached our intended destination.

Say for example you wanted to take a trip. Most likely you’d chart your course wouldn’t you? You’d at least take the time to know where you were headed and write out the directions.

This is the same idea behind achieving our goals, yet you’d be amazed by how many people choose to go day in and day out without having a basic plan of where they’re headed.

The main thing to keep in mind is that your goals should be committed to paper. This is the same as having a map. Each time you begin to feel as though you’re drifting away from what you want, you can refer back to your written goals. Sounds pretty simple doesn’t it? Well that my friend is because it is!

Yet as easy as this is to implement the fact still remains that most people simply lack the determination to make this an ongoing process. I won’t lie to you here it’s going to take an ongoing commitment. It takes the understanding that all things are changing.

Life is about change. The better we become at adapting to life’s changes the better prepared we will be. Amidst all the changes, keeping a written plan will do wonders for keeping you heading in the direction of your dreams.

The Power of Goals - Gordon the Tank Engine

Lately I have been studying mindset and goals, and wanted to share a Success story in our family.

Our 3 year old Quinn is potty training, and has had a huge goal to get “Gordon the tank engine”.
We were having a hard time getting him accustomed to the idea of using the toilet, until one day we went to Barnes and Noble.
Was it a book on Potty training you might ask????
No!!
We were looking in the Kids section, and up on the top shelf, Quinn eyed a Gordon Engine toy.
Quinn has always been a fan of Thomas, but this was a burning desire.
For the next hour every word that came out of his mouth was “Gordon”, and it ended in a screaming fit when we tried to leave.
As I was doing research on goals.
I thought “Hey lets give this a shot”

So I sat Down with Quinn and told him that if he went Potty in the toilet for one week, he could have Gordon. He smiled and said “Gordon”…I said you can have it, but you have to work for it.

The next day my wife made him a chart. On the chart was a train track, with picture of Gordon.
Each day that he completed his goal of going Potty in the toilet, he could move Gordon one stop closer to the end of the track.
Everyday we would go over the chart and talk about Gordon. We built the dream with him, and showed him pictures, and games of Gordon online.

Well today Quinn finished his week long trek and we are going to buy Gordon tomorrow.!
Congratulations Quinn!!!

So how does this apply to you and I?????

Well Quinn had a huge dream.. he wanted that train.
We set a goal that was a stretch for him to achieve his dream of the toy.
We tracked his daily progress and reviewed his dream VS. his actions.
It wasn’t until he achieved his goal that he got his dream.
You can have it, but you have to work for it.

Set goals..track it daily.. review your goals…make your dream come true!!!

It’s The Ride That Counts

Having goals is a good thing. It means that you’re willing to take the first step to achieving those goals. When you write down your goals, articulate them on paper, that’s the first step to achieving them.

But what about the second step, the third and the fourth and so on? If you persevere and keep focused you will eventually reach the goals that you set for yourself. But when you finally reach that goal, how will you feel about it?

Will it be a sense of accomplishment and pride? Or will it be more of ‘yeah I finally got it done’ and you’re just happy that you’ve gotten it over with?

The route you take while pursuing your goal determines how you feel about it at the end. It’s the ride that counts. Have you been on a road trip where everything that could go wrong did? How did you feel when you finally got to your destination? Pretty worn out, huh? Now what about a good road trip where everything went smoothly? You were probably still tired depending on how long the trip was but you were a bit happier when you got there.

See, it’s how you get there that counts. If you’re miserable during the entire trip, you’re going to be miserable when you get to where you’re going. I’ve had too many road trips where everyone in the car was cranky during the entire ride and as soon as we got to our last stop, the crankiness only continued on. Sure we were glad to get there but only because we were finally there and able to get out of the car. We were just glad the trip was over and still quite a bit cranky too.

But when the road trip is smooth and fun with no accidents or construction or any mishaps, not only are you happy during the ride but you’re ecstatic when you get to your final stop. You’re not as tired and worn out as you would have been if it were a bad trip.

It’s the same thing with your goals. You’re more appreciative of achieving your goals if you have fun with it while you’re working on it. So enjoy the ride, have fun and there will be a lot more satisfaction when you reach your goals.

Got Purpose?

Is your life on purpose? Does just the question stop you in your tracks? Have you been so caught up in the pace of our world that you’ve not even thought lately about whether or not your life is going in the right direction?

Of course, living a life on purpose starts with knowing what your purpose is. Are you crystal clear about what the purpose of your life is? If you aren’t sure, then you’ve just identified the place at which you should start a new life of purpose. Start by getting clear about what your purpose is. Don’t feel bad if you don’t already have this clarity. In a recent survey of more than 3000 people when asked the question, “What have you to live for?” 94 percent said they had no definite purpose for their lives — 94 percent! That leaves only 6 percent of us who know why we’re here. It’s no wonder we’re not a particularly happy society.

How can you know if you’ve hit your purposeful stride? The life you lead should be a full expression of your purpose. Those of us on the outside looking in should be able to figure out atleast the broad scope of your purpose just by looking at your actions. The person you are should be a reflection of your purpose.

Knowing your purpose however is really only the start. Many people feel they know their purpose but also realize that their life doesn’t reflect it. In other words, they aren’t living true to it. When you’re living your purpose your life and the person you are become perfect reflections of it.

The good news is that it’s not too late. It is possible to start living on purpose immediately, even before you clearly know your purpose. Because asking yourself, “who am I and what is my life for?” begins to move your life into a new direction. It all starts when you ask the question. Don’t stop with just asking the question. Answer it as well. Then get busy becoming.

“Seek and you will find. Ask and it will be given unto you.”

Make this week really count. Discover and start living your purpose.

Thanks for sitting with me.

Live some. Love some. Learn some. Everyday.

Achieve Your Goals By Doing Something About Them

The title of this article sounds simplistic but it is amazing how often people (including me) sit staring at a problem like mounting paperwork and become so depressed by the thought of all the work to be done that they do nothing and continue in a paralytic state for days and even months!

The article aims to cheer such people up by the fact that they are not the only ones to be paralyzed by their mounting tasks. It also offers one or two solutions to the problem.

We all have things we have failed to do. Frank Garon, internet guru and philosopher, writes:

“Last summer, I went to the gym 3-4 times a week and worked out like a fiend. I was in the best shape of my life, and I knew it. But then I got busy, and have only been one time in the past 7 months. Now, I could obsess about that, or I can just chill the freak out and go to the gym tomorrow and do something about it.

I have things I’ve needed to do for months still sitting on my desk. I can stop looking at this pile and DO something about it. I can pop in my Guy Finley and John Di Lemme CDs and give myself an instant boost. In short, I can either cry about something or I can fix it.”

Frank’s solutions are not to stress out about what he has not done; to play some music that he loves and to do something about whatever still needs doing. He wisely decides not to cry over spilt milk but to take action to put things right.

The Jewish Rabbis taught their students to deal with the problem of studying a huge syllabus (the Talmud) by telling the story of the heap of dust. Two men were asked to move a huge heap of dust. One man soon gave up saying: “We’ll never move this! It’s far too big.”

The other man kept plugging away day after day moving a little at a time. It seemed like he was achieving nothing but eventually the heap began to look a little smaller. Finally he cleared the whole lot away and received his reward.

To use another metaphor: Be content to chip away like a woodpecker at a problem bit by bit and eventually you will cut through the whole tree and your problem will disappear. Your problem could be debt; so chip away at your debt by plugging the little leaks in your finances which are draining your money away.

Perhaps, like me, you belong to several membership sites with monthly fees which you seldom if ever visit. It only takes a small effort to end your membership.

Perhaps people owe you money which they forget to pay you. Take the time and trouble to make a list of those who owe you money and ask for it. Debtors are usually honest people who really have forgotten to pay up and just need a reminder to refresh their memories.

Another solution to what you have not done, is to pay someone else to do it. Recently, I mowed my lawns myself but the time before that I paid some one else to do it and saved a lot of time and energy to work on other more important and urgent tasks.

You could argue, however, that mowing the lawn is great exercise so that you save money and benefit your health by doing the necessary physical work yourself.

Housework can take up a lot of time and demands some skill; so pay someone else who can do it more quickly and efficiently unless you are worried by having a stranger in the house. You could, of course, pay a relative to do the work!

The principle of leverage (i.e. getting some one else to do your work for you for money) applies in a big way on the internet. The whole affiliate system is based on rewarding others for doing your marketing for you. Network marketing is also based on leverage.

Occasionally, you might want to pay someone else to work for you but also to teach you how to do the skilled work that they know how to do. I pay my web designer to do work on my websites and to teach me how he does what he does.

This way I can gain a certain amount of independence so that I don’t have to keep ringing him up over minor changes and I can also save time by making the most of the skills of an expert web designer.

So stop feeling depressed about what you haven’t done. Either start fixing things bit by bit or pay someone else to do the job for you.
