Education and Communications Pathways and Pitfalls

“Communications help to keep people feeling included in and connected to the organization…give people information, and do it again and again.” William Bridges, Managing Transitions: Making the Most of Change

• You need to establish the few core messages you want to communicate throughout your organization. Use any and every communication channel you can to review, remind, and reinforce them. These include:

o Newsletters

o Videos

o Voice and e-mail updates and dialogues

o Recognition and celebration events

o Annual shareholder reports

o Annual improvement reports

o Visits to, from, and among customers and partners

o Special improvement days and fairs that allow teams to display their activities and results

o Orientation and training sessions

o Teleconferences

o Intranet sites

o Toll-free hot lines and telephone information centers

• Get out and talk to people. Multiple communication channels can and should be widely used to reinforce and support your core messages. But the best way to communicate is in person. The most effective communication approaches are like political campaigns. Leaders are out actively “pressing the flesh” and standing up to present their change and improvement themes and core messages. During times of major change or refocus, we’ve seen senior managers at some large organizations spend well over one hundred days per year delivering these vital communication messages. That’s leadership.

• Develop your “stump speech” or “talking points” among your management team before any of you heads out to give your version to the rest of the organization. This generally includes messages around your Change Drivers, Focus and Context (vision, values, and purpose), key goals and priorities, change/improvement plans, and such.

• Get people together. Get teams together weekly, monthly, and certainly no less than quarterly. That’s especially important for management, operational, or improvement teams that aren’t in the same building. At my previous consulting company, The Achieve Group, we found frequent face-to-face communications were the most important when we could least afford the time or the money to hold them. We continually find that getting the key players together can turn around most misunderstandings, mistrust, and misdirection. BUT, and here’s the “big if” - only if the meetings are well run.

• Develop highly visible scoreboards, bulletin boards, or voice mail, electronic or printed announcements of progress toward team and organization goals and priorities.

• Share all core strategic measurements (including “confidential” financial, and operating data) with everyone in your organization. Treat people like full-fledged business partners and they’ll act that way. But don’t snow them under with a blizzard of meaningless reports and numbers. Train everyone how to read these data. Show them how to relate the measurements to their daily operations and improvement activities.

• Team education, learning, and communication can be kept simple. In my early management years I got a lot of mileage from having my team sit around a conference table reading, discussing, and debating selected book passages or articles. This dialogue established a common values and knowledge base that enhanced mutual understanding, teamwork, communications, and context for further training and work together.

• Establish an internal “best practices and good tries” communication system, clearinghouse, or network. A free flow of information and active communications is the lifeblood of a learning organization. Use videos, visits, fairs, Intranet sites, voice and e-mail, meetings, reports, hot lines, teleconferences, information technologies, and the like.

• Get feedback from your customers and partners on the characteristics of your education and communication strategies, systems, and practices. How many communication channels are you using? Are they clogged or working well? What others could you be using?

• When you’re sick of repeating the same core messages over and over again is about the time that people in your organization are just starting to hear you. First they didn’t understand. Then they didn’t believe. If you stop repeating yourself now, they’ll conclude that you weren’t serious after all.

• Just as a marketing professional would never rely on just one marketing channel, don’t rely too heavily on the management hierarchy to deliver your core messages. It’s full of filters and personal agendas that twist and distort your messages. Yet you can’t go around your managers. They need to be central in communicating, reinforcing, and repeating your core themes. So start with them and give them that responsibility. But don’t assume it will be delivered as you wanted. That’s why personal meetings and multiple communication channels are so important.

• Keep moving your best people to the teams, positions, and parts of the organization that will spread their experience and leadership as broadly as possible. It’s also a great way to continue their development.

• Reward and thank people who bring you bad news before it’s festered into a catastrophe.

Trust and communication levels go together. Find out how high your organization or team trust levels are. If they’re low find out what’s causing the problem. This may be painful. The source of misunderstandings and mistrust is often in the leaders’ behavior.

Relationships - 9 Never-Changing Rules

In a relationship, your ability to understand and respond to the
other person’s needs and desires are fundamental. Understanding
the nature of relationships themselves may be as important to
your success in love as understanding the person with whom
you’re having the relationship.

The key to a working relationship is twofold. First you need to
work on a relationship day in and day out. Second you need the
right information to pinpoint where the relationship needs work.
Without this information you’re simply assuming and assumptions
are the enemy to any healthy relationship.

>From puppy love to winter romances, the following is true of all
relationships

1. Relationships Don’t Just Happen

Relationships aren’t accidents that come out of nowhere; you
create them and you have to make an effort to maintain them.
Remember that the time you invest in others will always pay off.

2. Relationships are Need-based.

Everyone has their own personal needs and desires; your job is
to figure out those needs since some may be unexpressed
verbally. Not an easy task, therefore you have to focus on your
partner. Ask how you can respond to a desire that she or he has.

3. Relationships Don’t Hold a Grudge

Despite the use of terms like “perfect match,” and “perfect
couple,” the idea of a perfect relationship is perfectly
ridiculous. We all make mistakes dealing with other people, so
it’s important to be overlooked and/or forgive imperfections in
others in order to build strong relationships.

4. Relationships That Endure Take Time

Relationships are formed with long-term goals in mind. This
means that deep relationships will evolve slowly because the
stakes — a life partner — are so great. In this instance,
“haste makes waste” and divorce…or at least an ugly break-up.

5. Relationships are As Unique as the Folks That Are In ‘Em.

No two people are the same and so no two relationships are the
same. Your relationships will deepen and strengthen, if you can
accept the uniqueness of others as a precious gift.

6. Relationships Build You Up.

“My partner brings out the best in me,” is the way most people
define the partner that they love. Relationships are built on
encouragement, so always try to make your partner feel good,
even if you’re urging them beyond their comfort zone to a new
level of intimacy.

7. Relationships Are Essential.

It may be a dog eat dog world out there, but man is still a
“pack animal,” looking for positive healthy relationships. Once
you understand that nothing is more important than people,
you’ll communicate that supportive message in everything you do.

8. Relationships Are For Two.

There is no such thing as a one-person relationship. For a
relationship to thrive it requires cooperation from both
parties, otherwise it’s unrequited love (at best) and stalking
(at worst). You can’t have a relationship with someone who isn’t
interested in having one with you.

9. Relationships are Greater Than the Sum of Their Parts.

In good relationships there is energy — your energy and your
partners. This energy pushes each of you to strive to make the
relationship work as individuals, and it also drives you to a
shared excellence.

Armed with these rules you should be able to create and maintain
a healthy relationship. Some caution on this topic. Just because
you live and breathe these rules doesn’t mean that your
relationship will be better or a broken relationship will be
fixed. Every situation is unique and requires different
approaches. Use these rules as a guide and as a guide only.

Unfortunately a small article can’t do justice on the wide
spectrum of creating and maintaining a working relationship. You
will get the complete picture and step by step explanations in
Race Kale’s new book “The Power of Charisma”.

Mazda is continuously upgrading and sprucing up its line up of vehicles. This automobile manufacturer is also making sure that not only their vehicles are upgraded but they make sure that their services for their customers world-wide are also given excellent deals and superb services.

Recently in Japan, Mazda is putting its Spiano Micro-Minis on sale. These are model cars from the automobile company. And this act has been done so as to be able to give two new Spiano models space when they come straight to the company’s vehicle line up. These two Spiano models comprise of the XF model and the SS model.

The Mazda Spiano XF model has a more fashionable exterior compared to the SS model. It is actually based on the previous Spiano X model. On the other hand, the Spiano SS model has a stronger engine compared to the previous model as well as compared to the XF model. It has been based on the Turbo model of the same make.

The Mazda Spiano Micro-Minis bear a tag that is quite affordable, especially for those who are interested in the Mazda brand of vehicles. The manufacturers recommended retail price for these vehicles range from 997,500 yen to 1,386,000 yen which when converted to US dollars is $8450 to $1,750.

Aside from getting its vehicle line up ready for new vehicles to come, Mazda in Japan has also come up with another brilliant idea to further customer care satisfaction. Over the internet, their built-to-order website, which is named Web Tune Factory, has been tuned up. The ability that the Web Tune Factory has at present is the chance to give their customers the ability to create their own customized Mazda car. In fact, customers are given a wide range of choices as per customization of any Mazda vehicle. There are around 8,500 optional equipment combinations that a person has to choose from. And the site also has 22 Mazda vehicle models available in Japan for customers to choose from.

Mazda continually makes sure that their customers around the globe are satisfied with their products. Mazda parts and Mazda 323 Parts just does the same. Hair Removal: Hair Removal for Men

Filed under:Universe Of Gender Issues — posted on @ 5:35 am

The New Man and His Unwanted Hair

Believe it or not, you could soon be trotting along for a bikini wax with your girlfriend. Well, maybe not the full Brazilian. But if the word in the tanning salon is to be believed, hair removal for men is well and truly on the rise.

It’s not just swimmers, bodybuilders and male strippers in those gross animal print thongs who are saying goodbye to their unwanted hair - men of all ages and backgrounds are doing away with their fuzz. And why not? It’s more hygienic, it leaves your skin silky smooth, and with so many procedures and professionals waiting to oblige, it seems unfair to let the girls keep all these hair removal secrets to themselves.

Some clinics say that at least 50% of their laser hair removal clients are men. Most want the hair gone from their chests, backs and legs. Some want the necessity of shaving their faces in the morning (and sometimes the afternoon as well) to be a thing of the past. With increasing pressures on time, many new products are marketed to exactly that.

The nose, ears and between the eyebrows can also be problem spots for guys. While the perfect arch may not on top of many men’s to-do list, stars like David Beckham and Johnny Depp, with their suspiciously slaved-over looking brows (not a mono- or uni-brow in sight) certainly add to the pressure men already feel to look the part.

Men are also targeting the back of the neck, their pubic area, toes and knuckles. They’re not necessarily going for full-on treatments like laser, electrolysis or even waxing (men’s pain thresholds aren’t what they’re cracked up to be!) but they are looking into alternatives to shaving. Shaving can cause razor burn which is very irritating, and it’s hardly a long-term solution anyway. Plus, there are some areas which simply need closer attention. While men are finding their feminine sides, and still on the look out for practicality and cost-effectiveness, it’s no wonder the tides are turning.

For some men though, evolution will always win out. Why bother to wax your legs or your eyebrows, when your kids and grandkids will probably look back and wonder what the hell you were doing. Well, don’t speak to fast. Repeated waxing or laser treatment can weaken a follicle so much that it grows back very finely, if at all. Give this kind of treatment a few years, and the next generation may not have the problem to begin with. So think of your poor unborn son and his dad’s uni-brow while you consider whether or not to start waxing. You’re riding an evolutionary wave as we speak!

If you’re a guy and it’s all sounding a bit too girly for your taste, fair enough. You’re entitled to your hair (and you’re lack of sexy smoothness!). But if hair removal could be the new you, get yourself on Ebay and start tracking down some decent tweezers, check out your local electrologist and raid your girlfriends waxing supplies (she’ll thank you in the end, I promise).
