Business Building: Securing that Potential Client - Sample Thank You Letter

Great! You have managed to secure a meeting with that big potential client you have wanted to meet. You set the time and have your presentation down just right. Finally the big day comes and everything goes well at your meeting. What now? Just sit back and wait for that potential client to call?

Someone that could have made lots of money once said, “The fortune is in the follow up.” So get out there and follow up!!!

The very first thing that you should do will be to send them a thank you letter. Go the extra step and make it more personal by sending the prospective client a greeting card with the thank you letter hand written inside. Here is a sample thank you letter you could send after meeting a prospective client.

************

John,

It was wonderful having the opportunity to meet you and get to know you a little better. I loved getting the chance to hear about your trip to Europe. As I said, it is a place I’d like to go in the near future. It sounds like I could really get some tips from you on where to go while I’m there.

John, I can see how much value you bring to your company and how much you would like to see it succeed. I’d like to thank you for the chance to show you and your company what we can do for you to help you in your goals.

If there are any additional questions I can answer for you, don’t hesitate to call.

I’m looking forward to the opportunity to work with you on this project.

************

As you can see, a thank you letter after a meeting with a prospective client does not need to be fancy but it should be personal where appropriate. Make an effort to build that relationship past just business so that the prospective client can see you really care about their interests.

Sometimes however, a more formal relationship is required. Here is a sample thank you letter after meeting with a prospective client that may be a bit more formal.

************

Mr. Doe,

It was wonderful meeting you today and learning more about ACME, Inc. I would like to thank you for giving WIDGETS Corp the opportunity to earn your business. I can see that this project is important to your company and I want to assure you that WIDGETS Corp will do everything that we can to provide you with the best possible service.

If you have any remaining questions that we can answer, please feel free to contact me.

Jane Doe

************

Whether your communication is formal or informal, a thank you letter receives more response when sent in the form of a greeting card. It has more impact and is more memorable, both keys to a good presentation.

After sending the thank you letter, don’t forget to follow up in a few days to a week with a phone call. Often times, prospective clients get busy and need that nudge to get going on a project. If your competitor calls before you do, who is more likely to get the business?

Ways to Help You Invest

Everyone knows the importance of setting aside savings. Whether it’s for retirement, emergency funds or saving for the family vacation, it is something that we should all be doing. Yet sometimes this isn’t as easy as we would like and at the end of the month our money is spent without setting anything aside. The financial services industry has become aware of this and has created tools to help us save. If you have difficulty saving, these tools may be your best way to ensure you have savings for whatever comes.

Direct Deposit

Of all the tools to help you save, direct deposit has been around the longest. Direct deposit is when your employer deposits your paycheck directly to your checking, savings, retirement or brokerage accounts. Many times an employer can deposit your check to more than one account. If this is the case, to help you with your savings, you could split your check up by how it will be used. Spending money could go into your checking account, investment money into your brokerage account, retirement into an IRA or 401(k) and a percentage into a savings account. This way you don’t have to actually move the money into savings, investments or retirement yourself, it is done for you automatically at the beginning of the month. Setting up direct deposit is usually just a matter of completing a form at your workplace. For many people, money that goes directly into savings is forgotten and therefore less easily spent.

Automatic Investments

When direct deposit isn’t an option or you just want another choice, automatic investments is a good way to help you save. With this, your paycheck goes into one account and then you setup times during the month when money is taken from this main account and put into other accounts such as IRA’s, investment accounts and/or savings accounts. This is something you schedule in advance and takes place on a monthly basis. This way, you don’t have to remind yourself to do it. This is very similar to direct deposit but where your bank or financial institution is doing the work for you instead of your employer.

This could also be used if your direct deposit limits you to one account or only allows you to split up your check by percentages. If this is the case, you can direct deposit your paycheck into the account where you have setup automatic investments and then have dollar amounts go into different savings accounts. This is helpful for depositing into accounts like IRA’s where you can only invest a certain dollar amount each year and you don’t want to go over your limit.

Tax Return Money

When tax season comes, consider saving your tax returns instead of spending them. This is an especially good idea for those who have a difficult time saving on their own. You can deposit your tax return directly into a savings account and start yourself a little nest egg. If you worry about your ability to keep it in that savings account, consider putting a lot of it into an account where you cannot get it out easily, such as an IRA, a CD or an investment with redemption fees when you take it out too quickly.

If you don’t have any issues with keeping your savings intact, instead of determining where your tax return money should go, you should instead determine why it is not coming to you in the first place. The IRS website has a calculator that will estimate your federal taxes and tell you what exemptions are appropriate so you can break even on your taxes each year. Doing this will give you more money each paycheck which enables you to start saving immediately instead of waiting for tax time. This also allows you to earn interest on that money for a longer period of time.

Investment/Savings Credit Cards

Credit cards that actually help you save money? For people who use a credit card for convenience and rewards and not for the ability to carry a balance, this is a great opportunity. Recently, a few cards have come to the market that offer investment or savings points when you make purchases. Fidelity Investments, Motley Fool and American Express are some of the first companies to offer these types of Credit Cards. The way they work is for every dollar in purchases, you earn points to put toward investments or savings that you choose. Once there are enough points to reach a threshold (determined by the card), the points are redeemed as cash and deposited to an investment account, retirement account or savings account that you have designated ahead of time.

Workplace Savings Plans

Many employers now offer workplace savings plans. These come in many shapes and forms, not just 401(k)’s but 403(b)’s, 457 plans, Roth 401(k) plans, etc. To contribute to a workplace savings plan, money has to come from your paycheck since they are employer sponsored plans. Your employer asks you to indicate what percentage of your paycheck should be deposited to your retirement savings account. Once this is done, that percentage will come out of your paycheck each time and go directly into your retirement account. It is difficult and sometimes impossible to retrieve money from your retirement account while working for that employer so this is a great savings tool for those who have a hard time setting aside money. Workplace savings also is good as it lowers your overall tax burden for the year, giving you even more savings.

Automatic Increases

The last way to help increase your savings is to use an automatic increase program on your workplace savings plan. Not all employers offer this; contact your human resources or benefits department to see if it is an option. These programs facilitate saving for retirement by automatically increasing your retirement savings each year. You generally choose what percent you want to increase the savings by as well as the date. When the chosen date comes, a larger percentage of your paycheck starts going into your workplace savings account. You can have it take effect right after annual salary increases each year making it less noticeable in your take-home pay.

If saving money isn’t one of your stronger qualities, these savings programs can help. Savings is the best way to avoid financial ruin. Having money set aside for an emergency, job loss, car and home repairs, or any unexpected expenses prevents you from having to take loans to cover these problems. In addition to liquid savings, retirement savings and college savings are long-term goals that often get overlooked or procrastinated. Taking advantage of one or several options from above is the first step in creating a healthy financial future for you and your family.

Bachelorette Party Entertainment

Filed under:Life Of Relationships — posted on @ 4:04 pm

More than the food and drinks, it’s the entertainment that makes or breaks a bachelorette bash. It is therefore very important to find the right kind of entertainment appropriate to the party’s theme, and suitable to the preferences of the bride-to-be and her guests. Here are three ideas that are guaranteed to keep every type of audience amused.

Romantic movies are the cheapest and most convenient bachelorette party entertainment – just buy some popcorn and watch sappy movies that remind the bride of her love story. Stick to stories with happy endings – the cheesier, the better. This kind of entertainment is best for intimate ‘pajama’ bachelorette parties held at a close friend’s home.

Take everyone to a concert of the bride-to-be’s favorite singer and then head out to a favorite restaurant for dinner and drinks (and maybe some low-key dancing). This option is a little pricier, but is perfect if you want a fun and laid-back night out with close girlfriends. Check the entertainment sections of the newspapers and specialty magazines for concert schedules.

If you’re ready for all-girl naughtiness, then watch a male stripper in action! You can either hire a male stripper to come to the bachelorette party venue, or go to a strip club to see several of them strut their stuff. You can easily get in touch with professional male strippers through Websites (log on to the ones with pictures of the strippers so you can pick one that the bride will find attractive). Stripper services go from about $200 and up. Be sure to reserve early, because they do run out during peak months (June and December).

Remember that this kind of bachelorette party entertainment is great for an open-minded bride and a young and spirited audience, but if you plan on inviting older, more conservative women (like the bride’s grandmother or future mother-in-law), stick to something more wholesome.

How Using A Drop Capital Increased My Ebook Sales By 40%

You will often find me with my head in a book, studying the marketing and copywriting experts from the past.

It was whilst reading one such book, that I discovered how using a drop capital, can increase readership of advertising.

The book was: ‘Ogilvy On Advertising’ - by David Ogilvy

In the book, Ogilvy, an advertising and marketing legend, discussed the merits of using a drop capital (also known as a drop initial).

Ogilvy was renowned for producing advertising which got results, having helped to build some of the most recognizable brands in the world including: American Express, Sears, Ford, Shell, Barbie, Pond’s, Dove, and Maxwell House among them, and more recently, IBM and Kodak.

In ‘Ogilvy On Advertising’, Ogilvy is quoted as saying “The drop capital increases readership of your body copy by an average of 13%”.

How Does The Drop Capital Increase Readership?

Drop capitals seem to work in the same way that images do. In that they catch the readers eye as they scan the page.

The big capital letter drops down inside the first paragraph. Because we read from left to right, our eyes move naturally away from the image and into the text to the right.

The first paragraph is very important, and has to capture the reader’s attention and interest, so that they continue to read down the page.

The key point is: ‘The more people you can get to read the text on your web pages, the more sales you are going to make.’ Period!

What I really like about the drop capital as a sales tool, is its subtelty. It doesn’t shout: ‘Hey! I’m trying to trick you into reading!’ I like to refer to it as a ’stealth copywriting’ technique. It’s extremely effective, but without flying above the radar.

Does This Offline Copywriter’s Trick Increase Sales On The Internet?

After reading about how effective drop capitals can be offline; I decided to see if they could boost my sales conversion rate, on a website selling an ebook.

My first big hurdle was learning how to create a drop cap effect on a web page.

I spent a considerable amount of time trying to create a graphic of a capital letter, which would fit just right in the paragraph. I quickly discovered that it’s very easy to create an image that is either too big, or too small.

I didn’t want the whole effect to look amateurish, as I felt that it would make my site look unprofessional, and almost certainly ‘hurt’ my conversion rates.

After much perserverance and trial and error, I managed to get everything looking just right.

I Set Up A Split Test To Track My Sales Conversion Rate

Using some state of the art ’split test tracking software’, I set up two different versions of my sales page. The software split all incoming traffic to my website. Half the visitors viewed a page WITHOUT a drop capital, and the other half saw the same page, but this time WITH a drop capital.

A piece of tracking code was placed on my ‘thank you’ page, so that I could track which version of my sales page was viewed, whenever a sale was made. This scientific method of testing, would prove to me over time which version of my sales page made more sales.

I decided to let the test run for at least 100 sales, so that the results wouldn’t be a fluke. I eventually stopped the split test at 135 sales.

My Test Results Revealed That My Sales Were Up By A Huge 40%!

The results from the test were pretty amazing. Not only did it prove that drop capitals work online, but it also suggested that they are even more effective on web pages, than they are in offline advertising.

Here are my test result statisitics from a website where I am selling an ebook…

Page WITHOUT a drop capital image:
3796 unique visitors, 57 new sales, 1.5% conversion rate

Page WITH a drop capital image:
3702 unique visitors, 78 new sales, 2.1% conversion rate

Even though the page WITH a drop capital received slightly less unique visitors, it still managed to sell 21 more ebooks for me. Overall, the page WITH the drop capital made 40% more sales, than the exact same page WITHOUT a drop capital.

I’m sure you will agree that the increase in sales is very significant; and all after changing just one single letter on my web page! If you don’t currently use drop capital images on your website, you really are leaving money on the table.

Instead of spending all your time and money, trying to get more and more visitors to your website, you really should look at how you can increase your sales, from the existing traffic you are already getting.

This is the easiest way I have found to increase my profits, and I didn’t have to spend an extra dime on advertising to get it!

Loans UK- Loans to suit every pocket

Human desires are unlimited but the finance that one acquires
always seems to be scarce. Thanks to the diversity of loans
available in the UK finance market which helps in fulfilling the
desires and dreams of millions of the UK residents.

UK loan market at present is swamped with infinite number of
loan options. Different loans have been designed keeping in mind
the diverse needs and expectations of people in the UK. If you
are an individual looking for a loan to buy a car, a personal
loan can be a perfect option for you. Now, here also lenders can
offer you the option to go for a secured or an unsecured loan.
Does these words sound new to you? Let me explain it to you.

A secured personal loan is a secured loan offered to meet
personal needs of the UK residents. To avail this loan a
borrower needs to put collateral against the loan. Your car,
home or even a saving bank account can work as collateral.
Secured loan helps borrowers in making the best use of the
equity stored in his or her property that helps him in borrowing
a larger amount of loan and that too for a longer loan term.

Unsecured personal loan UK does not require a borrower to put
any collateral against the loan. Tenants who do not own a home
can enjoy the benefits of unsecured loans. Not only tenants,
homeowners who do not want to keep their property at risk can
also apply for an unsecured loan.

Personal loans UK were introduced to serve personal purpose of
the borrower. Personal loans are classified as secured and
unsecured loan on the basis of security attached to the loan.
They can also be classified on the basis of usage - Business
loan, home improvement loan, debt consolidation loan, car loans,
holiday loan, wedding loan and many more.

Different personal loans serve different needs. A business loan
can be the perfect solution for an entrepreneur who needs funds
to expand his business. An individual who is caught in the midst
of debt trap can take a debt consolidation loan, to reduce the
debt burden and become debt free in the future by paying the
existing debts. A debt consolidation loan can also be used to
improve the credit score and enjoy the benefits of loans
arranged at low APR in future.

Other loans offered by the lenders in the UK are - Payday loans
are available to provide instant cash to the borrowers until the
next paycheque arrives. Bridging loans can be used to fill in
the cash shortfall existing in a property transaction and many
more. Each loan has different features; you can find the loan
you are looking for from the vast number of loans offered by
lenders.

The loan service is not confined to a group of people. Lenders
in the UK aim to cater to the needs of each and every
individual. A good score will help you get a loan at better loan
terms. Even if you have a bad credit score there is nothing to
worry. There are lenders in the UK who can arrange loan for you
and that too at a lower rate of interest.

Only a few years’ back traditional lenders ruled the UK loan
market. The loan process was lengthy and full of hassles.
Borrowers had to wait for months to find whether they will be
getting the loan or not. A borrower had to approach each lender
personally and submit his or her loan application form.

The entry of online lenders has revolutionized the whole loan
market in the UK. Now, a borrower can access infinite number of
lenders at one time without even moving from one place to
another. What you need to have is a computer equipped with
Internet, that’s it.

Applying for loan online is easy, fast and convenient. The
online phenomenon aims to save your precious time as well as
invaluable money. You can browse through various lending
websites and can apply for the loan by filling up the online
loan application form that hardly takes 2 to 5 minutes. Most of
the lenders provide you with the loan decision within 24 hours.
You can also apply for a loan quote that are offered for free or
for nominal fees by majority of the lenders. Gathering loan
quotes from various lenders and comparing them will help you
find the best loan option and lender.

If you dare to dream, lenders in the UK can help you fulfill
your dreams with the loans UK. Growing desires among the lenders
in the UK has given rise to the increasing number of loan
options in the UK. Whatever may be the need, just a little bit
of research will help you get the loan of your choice.

Are You Putting Off Productivity?

Filed under:World Of Technology — posted on @ 1:02 am

I recently took a good look at what was keeping me from accomplishing what I needed to do. After all, I had my goals. I had them written down. I read my affirmations daily. And still, I was not achieving what I wanted to do.

Leaving town was a major undertaking. And that’s not good when you’re a professional speaker! I need to be able to leave at a moment’s notice and arrive ready to give my full attention to my audience. So it was time for a look at what was holding me back. Here’s what I found.

1. I used my desktop computer in the office. However, my accounting program and contact databases were on that machine, so my assistant also needed to use it. We sometimes found ourselves waiting for the other person to get off the machine before we could do what we needed to do.

2. I used a 3-lb laptop on the road. Though I rarely used them, I had to pack the CD player and floppy drive, plus the docking bar with the parallel port on it - just in case I needed any of those items.

3. I often found myself without a file I needed or a contact’s information. It took me up to an hour or two before I left town each time to decide on and transfer what I needed to my laptop, then another 30 minutes or more when I returned to update my desktop with all I had worked on while I was gone.

4. I had an early 2MB Palm V that could not hold any e-books and did not sync with my Outlook calendar and contacts. So again, I spent a lot of time copying and pasting information between my desktop or my laptop and my Palm.

In general, things were not working well and the problems were pretty obvious.

Here’s how I resolved most of my issues.

1. I bought a new laptop. This is 3 years newer than the other, but it’s four times faster and has a larger screen. And while I traded a 3-pounder for a 7-pounder, my new laptop has a built-in floppy and a built-in CD burner. That means all the pieces are with me all the time. And with the CD burner, I can back up data quickly or move it to another computer easily - very nice when you need to use someone else’s computer!

2. I moved my desktop to another office for my assistant. That means she and I can be working at the same time on the rare occasions I’m in the office - what a concept!

3. I only put the programs I need for my tasks on my laptop. So if I don’t think I should be doing it, I didn’t load the software. I did not put my accounting program or my databases on my laptop; instead, I’m delegating those tasks to my assistant (another new concept!) If I need to look at anything on those programs, I’ll walk into her office and check.

4. I purchased a new color Palm. It’s color with lots of memory. Best of all, it syncs with Outlook contacts, tasks, calendar and notes. Plus it uses Word and Excel, as well as Adobe Acrobat Reader. This is truly revolutionary! To ensure I have the information I need with me, I put the Palm into its cradle and it automatically syncs everything. No more deciding what to take, then copying and pasting it! I find I’m editing Word documents on the plane, plus I’m getting a lot of the e-books read in airports and sitting alone in restaurants. When I want to create an article from scratch (as I’m doing with this one), I use the keyboard.

In short, my travel life has changed dramatically in the past 2 weeks! And as I walk back into my office this afternoon, I’ll pull my laptop out and put it on my desk, then sync it with my Palm. I will have everything with me that I’ve had on the road for the past 10 days. My assistant’s work life won’t be interrupted and we’ll never lose a beat in getting the job done!

Just the sense of calm and control are worth it. No more frantic transferring of files as I leave. No more waiting to use my computer while she prints invoices for the month. No more… well, you get the idea! I’m thrilled with the make-over!

Do you need to review your productivity? Take this short quiz and see:

1. Do you always have the information you need with you - either on your cell phone, your laptop, and your PDA (personal digital assistant, such as a Palm Pilot or IPAQ)?

2. Are you trying to share a computer with anyone else?

3. Can you get on the Internet as often and as long as you need to?

4. If you need a client file while you’re traveling do you have it? Can you get it within 15 minutes - even after hours?

5. If you need to move a file or print a file, so you have a way to do that while you’re traveling?

6. Are there tasks that are not getting done? Why? Could it be cured by shifting or adding technology?

Remember: Technology is a tool that works FOR us. If you’re working harder and longer because of the technology, it’s not working the way it should. Don’t put off productivity!
