What is the Difference Between an Unsecured Personal Loan and a Secured Personal Loan?

This is a common question that many consumers have. Many people do not realize that there are even different types of personal loans. Each type of personal loan, secured and unsecured, have different requirements.

We will look at the requirements for a secured personal loan first. The name “secured loan” pretty much sums it up, to obtain a secured loan the borrower is required to provide some kind of collateral to secure the loan.

The most common forms of collateral used to secure loans are personal property such as your home, land or automobile. When your home is used as collateral, you will often hear the loan referred to as a home equity loan or a second mortgage loan. Personal loans can also be secured with stocks, bonds, certificates of deposit, a savings account, etc.
Lenders tend to be more flexible when granting secured loans. Usually the borrower is given a lower interest rate and longer terms to repay the loan compared to an unsecured loan. The downside to a secured personal loan is if you default on the loan and fail to repay it, the collateral used to secure the loan can be seized by the lender.

If you do not have any collateral to put up for security, then you would not be able to qualify for a secured loan. On the other hand, and unsecured loan does not require any collateral. That is why unsecured loans are a great option for non-homeowners.

The requirements for an unsecured personal loan rely on the borrower’s credit history. Since there is no collateral securing the loan, the lender has to base creditworthiness of the borrower on his or her past credit activities.

The higher a credit score the borrower has the more likely for approval they will be. A good credit score can also guarantee a higher loan amount and a lower interest rate. If you have poor credit, you could still qualify for an unsecured loan but expect to pay a much higher interest rate.

There are some really great deals and interest rates on unsecured loans these days. But all in all, usually the limit on an unsecured loan will be lower than the limit for a secured loan and the interest rates are usually higher. The History of Oceanside, CA

The first chapter in Oceanside’s history began in the late 18th
century when Father Juan Crespi, a Spanish Franciscan friar,
passed through the area in 1769 while travelling with the
Portola expedition. His reports on the area led to the
establishment of the Mission San Luis Rey de Francia (named
after St. Louis, King of France) in a location 3-4 miles inland
of what is today Oceanside’s downtown area by Father Fermin
Francisco de Lasuen. Built by the original Luiseno Indians of
the area, the “King of Missions” as it was called found some
rough times in the early 1830s during secularization by the
Mexican government but rebounded as a town, San Luis Rey, slowly
grew around it.

In 1883 the completion of the railroad connecting San Diego and
San Bernadino provided increased access to the Pacific coast.
Andrew Jackson Meyers, a businessman from the area surrounding
the mission, requested and received a grant of 160 acres south
of the area that would later become Camp Pendleton, at the time
known as Rancho Santa Margarita. J Chauncey Hayes acted as
Meyers’s real estate hand, selling town lots and eventually
petitioning for a post office for the growing community. The
name Oceanside came from a popular diversion of the time as
families inland would often go “ocean side” to escape the heat
and enjoy the beautiful Pacific Coast.

Incorporated in 1888, Oceanside grew rapidly over the following
years as the railway brought people and businesses to the sunny
beach town. In 1893 the first of the Oceanside Municipal Piers
was built, and in the subsequent century Oceanside became the
popular tourist destination it is today with the addition of the
Oceanside Harbor and the El Camino Golf Course. In 1942 a
particularly intense period of growth came with the purchase of
the Rancho Santa Margarita land north of Oceanside by the US
Marine Corps for the establishment of Camp Pendleton.

Today Oceanside CA is a thriving community of long-time
residents, local armed forces, and beach-loving tourists who
flock to our beautiful coast and golf courses throughout the
year. With a climate ranked the fifth most desirable in the
world(!) and the second most desirable in the entire United
States, the city of Oceanside is the perfect destination
throughout the year for visitors looking for a mellow yet
exciting environment offering stretches of perfect sand, a
multitude of spas and resorts, a colorful harbor offering
fishing expeditions and various watersports, and much more. (C)

It’s All in the Name of Beauty… Baby

From firming the skin, decreasing wrinkles to achieving a healthy glow - we now look towards the healing power of nature for assistance. And, manufacturers have responded to your need in some form or another.

Natural and chemical

However, most commercial skin care products that advertise as “natural” or offer “botanicals” still contain chemicals, emulsifiers and/or synthetic elements. We encounter these chemicals every day in shampoos, cosmetics, creams and don’t even know it. And aside from the skewed advertising, for most people, there is no problem.

However, for others these chemicals penetrate the skin and cause skin irritations and for some, even an allergic reaction. Chemicals do have a necessary place in our lives. But with the multitude of chemicals found in our skin and health care products and even in some of the foods we eat, we should and can find healthier alternatives.

It is not to say that natural ingredients don’t cause allergic reactions and not all natural skin care products fit everyone. But the reality is that anything you apply to your skin ends up inside your body just as if you had ingested it. So, when chosen correctly almost every skin type responds well to natural skin care products.

Being Hip versus Being Educated

While going “natural” in the beauty field is hip, most customers are still attracted to fruity or flowery scents not found in nature.

Yet, this is not the disconcerting issue. What is disturbing is that the beauty industry is becoming two camps. One on the side is the “natural” industry and on the other stands the chemical (mainly traditional skin care products).

What is most interesting is that the chemical camp claims the natural ingredients; natural skin care formulas have no factual basis or scientific legitimacy, a kind of quackery.

The Oxymoron

There is evidence that toxins are eliminated through the skin via perspiration and absorbed through the skin into the body’s circulation system, through hair follicles and sebaceous glands.

The chemicals and toxins found in most commercial skin care products also have a detrimental effect on the environment, although this effect is just beginning to be understood.

It is now acknowledged that while these ingredients are in limited amounts; compound these chemicals in almost every product we use and used daily, its allergy overload.

Whereas Aromatherapy (essential oils and blends have very powerful properties to promote and maintain healthy, beautiful and youthful skin) have been used for centuries for skin and beauty care. Unfortunately in the 19th century, new chemical processes made it cheaper to produce synthetic versions of these oils. These synthetic oils which are found in many of our skin care products have the fragrance but not the therapeutic qualities.

And, essential oils have a proven history of healing and treating many ailments.

The Ingredients are What Counts

Still not a believer? What about those nicotine patches, it’s not the patch that forcing the medication but actually your skin’s natural absorbability.

Scientific research is discovering that many chemicals in personal care products may actually pose potentially serious long-term health threats when used over an extended period of time, as the skin absorbs like a sponge.

We’ve also come to understand that when we inhale the essential scent molecules, our brains release neuropeptides that can have mood altering effects.

Essential oils also have such fine molecular structures, that when mixed with massage oils they easily penetrate the skin. Thus in an aromatherapy treatment the essential oils are able to enhance both your physical and psychological well-being at the same time.

They are oxygenating and help transport nutrients to the cells of our body. Without oxygen, nutrients cannot be assimilated; therefore, the oxygenating essential oils can help us maintain our health.

Other natural ingredients such as honey, considered the super food of the cells, tissues and organs with many vitamins including Vitamin “K” and “H”, Carotene and Folic Acid does offer moisturizing value when applied to the skin.

Then there is Carrot Seed Oil, particularly beneficial for dry, mature skin-types and can help to restore elasticity to the skin and could therefore reduce wrinkles. Hemp seed oil is very close to our skin’s oil as far as fatty acid structure and is easily absorbed by the skin. The list of benefits in natural ingredients can go on and on.

Now again consider the list of chemicals in lotions, creams, shampoos and so on we place on our skin every day.

It’s a New Car, Bob!

There is a lot of hype behind natural. But this is young growing industry is working hard at moving towards a standard of what will be deemed as “natural”. Take for example extracting a component from the plant almost always requires a process that is synthetically derived, should then Green Tea Extract not be considered natural?

But, perhaps the real reason the chemical camp is so upset is because their consumer is becoming educated, asking questions and now have the freedom of choice!

Or maybe they’re upset because the natural industry believes in full disclosure in our products. Or maybe, just maybe after you’ve experienced the feeling of these vital plant substances on your face, you may find it difficult to return to synthetic.

Cecilia Ponzi loves skin care products! So, it’s no surprise that she co-created http://www.anaturalperspective.com to be “The Place” for hard-to-find 100% natural, quality, holistic skin and health care products.

http://www.anaturalperspective.com is a resource for both, the consumer and retailers and spa centers that look to offer signature and quality skin care products. Facial care products for all skin types, anti-wrinkle products too!

What Is VoIP Security?

Security is an obvious concern when it comes to any sort of technology, but even more so with any technology that is run through the Internet. Because VoIP runs through the Internet any information can be intercepted by anyone at any time. Because many things go through phone line, private information can wind up in the hands of the wrong person. Obviously, nothing is a one hundred percent guarantee because as fast as technology is made to keep information from getting in the wrong hands, the wrong hands are working to figure out how to break through those systems. Luckily, VoIP security is becoming more and more well rounded all the time and soon it’ll be so well done that even the best of the best won’t be back to get their hands on personal information.

One of the ways that most VoIP providers secure their customers personal information is through the tunneling and encryption process. These techniques keep hackers and those will ill intent from capturing information packets as they pass through the internet. Most VoIP providers use Layer 2 tunneling and an encryption method called Secure Sockets Layer or SSL to keep anyone from getting into the information they shouldn’t have. The security of VoIP will undoubtedly change and become more sophisticated as technology allows and consumers demand more security and more privacy. For some time to come VoIP security will remain a huge concern, just because it’s widely known that all information that passes over the internet could potentially fall into the hands of someone with ill intent.

Don’t let VoIP security issues keep you from getting VoIP services. The benefits of VoIP far outweigh the security risks. The bottom line is that you are more at risk every time you get online sending emails and paying bills than you will be every time you use your VoIP services. So, the features and convenience are well worth the small security risk associated with the internet access associated with it!

Digital Wedding Photography: Myth Vs. Reality

1. Myth: Digital photos are pixilated or fuzzy.
Reality: most people that say that have never seen a photo produced by a professional grade digital camera. The quality of modern digital cameras is equal of greater than film cameras.

2. Myth: Digital photos don’t last they will fade in a couple of years.
Reality: Only the photo capture part is digital. The printing is done using traditional photo paper on the same paper and chemistry used to print film photos. So, both will last the same.

3. Myth: Digital colors are muddy.
Reality: Only if they are produced with cheap, low quality cameras and/or the photographer doesn’t know how to adjust them and process them for printing

4. Myth: Digital photos are dangerous; the photographer can lose your photos.

Reality: Nowadays most photos are stored using Flash Cards that is one of the most reliable forms of digital storage. After the wedding the photos are downloaded to the computer and additional backups are created on CD or DVD allowing several copies of the same event to reside on different locations. In the case that photos are accidentally deleted they can be recovered using software. With film there is only one copy. It is not uncommon for the photo labs to lose the film, damage it in the printing machine, process it in the wrong chemistry, scratch it, etc. Film also can be damaged in camera, be fogged, damaged by X-rays at the airport, suffer color changes due to heat or age etc.

5. Myth: Digital photos lack detail.
Reality: Only if they are produced with cheap, low quality cameras. It is not unusual for us to produce 30×40 inch prints from our professional grade cameras with stunning detail.

6. Myth: Digital is cheaper because there is no film.
Reality: Professional grade digital cameras and lens are very expensive. In addition the professional photographer has to invest on computer equipment and software to process the photos.

7. Myth: I got a digital camera that takes great photos now I can start a career as a wedding photographer.
Reality: Wedding photography requires that you have artistic talent and that you learn photography including composition, lighting, etc. A wedding is an uncontrolled event that requires technical and artistic skill. It is not the place to learn photography.

8. Myth: I don’t have to take care when I take photos anymore I can fix it later in Photoshop or other photo-editing program.
Reality: Garbage in and garbage out. There is no fix for badly composed photos, out of focus, bad lighting, etc.

9. Myth: Digital photography is easy now I don’t need a professional wedding photographer.
Reality: If you trust your wedding memories to somebody who doesn’t have the professional skills you are likely to be sorry or disappointed.

10. Myth: I am afraid that the photographer will do weird effects.
Reality: the purpose of the editing software is to enhance the quality of the photos. It is not a license to create weird stuff. Talk to your photographer about your expectations.

11. Myth: Digital will never be better than or equal to film.
Reality: Digital cameras are equal or better than film in terms of resolution color fidelity etc. and far superior in low light situations. The “film look” can be easily emulated using digital imaging processing techniques.

12. Myth: I got a bigger fancier camera with more megapixels than your so my photos will be better than yours.
Reality: Unless you have the technical and artistic skill the camera that you use will have minimal impact on the quality of the photos that you produce. A great camera in the right hands will produce great results. Some of the greatest photos in history were produced using mechanical cameras.

Challenges to Email Subject Line Use

Filed under:Great Marketing Tips — posted on @ 11:22 am

Creativity, style, formatting and length of subject lines are all important points to take into consideration before you send an email.

Be Creative

Using a subject line that’s specific is most appropriate when corresponding with people who know you or with people who are expecting your message. How do you get the attention of someone who doesn’t know you or who isn’t expecting anything from you?

The answer is – be creative. Writing a subject line that’s creative is an excellent method for improving chances that your email message will be opened.

In this instance, the subject line isn’t used to describe the contents of the message. Instead, the subject line is used to convey some other type of information.

What kind of information? It will vary with each message you send, and it depends on the recipient. The key question is – what can you tell the recipient that will convince him/her to open this message and read it, instead of deleting it? In some cases, you’ll need to be quite creative.

There are numerous types of information you can provide in the subject line to help convince the receiver to open the email message. Here are a few examples.

(Uses for the subject line): Identify who you are
(Sample wording): Lawyer

(Uses for the subject line): Tell how you met this person
(Sample wording): Chamber Networking B’fast

(Uses for the subject line): Tell why you are contacting this person
(Sample wording): Animal shelter fundraiser

(Uses for the subject line): Find things that set you apart
(Sample wording): E-commerce lawyer

(Uses for the subject line): Find common bond with recipient
(Sample wording): Fellow IU grad & lawyer

Subject Lines: Formatting and Style

There is another challenge you must overcome when crafting an effective subject line. This involves the length of the subject line.

The new message box you view on your screen for the subject line will allow you to type as many words as you want. But, the receiver’s screen has limited space. Only a small portion of the wording will be viewed by the recipient.

How much appears on the recipient’s screen for the subject line? It varies, depending on the person’s system and how he/she has the screen setup. A safe guess is that approximately 25 to 35 characters will appear.

Definition
Pay careful attention here. This approximation doesn’t mean 25 to 35 words. It means “characters.”

A character is defined as a letter, space, or punctuation. For example, any time your cursor moves one space, that’s considered one character.

Phrases
Since the space is so limited in the subject line, you don’t need to type a complete sentence. Use a phrase or series of words instead of a full sentence.

This is one time when an incomplete sentence is appropriate. Leave out the little words, and get to the point.

Capitalization
The only “rule” regarding capitalization in the subject line is to be consistent. For example, you may choose to capitalize only the first word. Or, you may decide to capitalize every word.

Remember not to use all uppercase (CAPITAL) letters. This is considered shouting. Shouting at a person would certainly not be the best way to convince him/her to open your message.

Always remember that the creativity, style, formatting and length of your subject lines are important factors to consider before you send an email. Be conscientious of the image you project to your customers and colleagues by using effective subject lines.

Tax Magic: How To Turn Taxable Income Into Tax-Free Income

Believe it or not, there are ways to convert taxable income
into non-taxable income, without any fear of an IRS audit.

Here’s one of my favorites. It’s been part of our
tax code for over 30 years, yet many still don’t take
advantage of it.

What am I talking about?

The IRA — Individual Retirement Account.

Now, before you say, “Oh, I know all about that one; what’s
so great about an IRA?”, give me 10 minutes to explain 3 new
benefits to the IRA rules that you may not realize.

BENEFIT #1: How To Avoid Tax Rather Than Postpone Tax

First, did you know that there are now 2 kinds of IRA’s
available?

The so-called Traditional IRA is the one that first came
out way back in the 1970’s.

But there’s a newer version of the IRA that’s only a few
years old — it’s called the Roth IRA. And the difference
between these 2 IRA’s is huge.

Traditional IRA contributions are tax-deductible, resulting
in immediate tax savings. The growth of those contributions
is also tax-sheltered while the funds remain in the account.

But eventually all tax-deductible Traditional IRA
contributions, as well as the growth of those contributions,
will be subject to income tax when the money is withdrawn
from the account.

In other words, Traditional IRA’s offer the opportunity to
temporarily postpone taxes.

In contrast, the Roth IRA offers the opportunity to
permanently avoid taxes. With a Roth IRA, you don’t take
a deduction for your contributions; instead, you make
a contribution with “after-tax” dollars.

Whatever you put in not only grows tax-free, but can
also be withdrawn tax-free.

Here’s an example to illustrate:

If you invest $2,000 per year for 20 years into a Roth IRA,
you will have invested a total of $40,000. Now if that Roth
IRA earns an average of 10% per year, that $40,000 will
grow into $126,005.

Now comes the fun part: Assuming the IRA has existed for at
least 5 years and you are at least 59 ½ years old, you can
withdraw the entire $126,005 tax free.

In contrast, if this money had been invested in a
Traditional IRA, the entire $126,005 would be subject to
income tax as it is withdrawn.

The $86,005 of growth is magically converted from taxable
income to non-taxable income. Assuming you are in the 15%
federal tax bracket, that’s a savings of $12,901. Add any
state income tax, and you could save over $15,000 in
taxes.

BENEFIT #2: Take An Extra 3 ½ Months To Fund Your IRA

The deadline for contributing to your IRA is April 15 of the
year AFTER the year for which the contribution made.

So for Year 2005, you have until April 15, 2006
to put money into your IRA.

If you’ve already invested the maximum (more about that in a
moment) by December 31, 2005, then you’re done. No more
money can go into the IRA for 2005.

But if you haven’t maxed out your IRA, you have until
April 15 to do so.

Which brings me to . . .

BENEFIT #3: The Maximum Contribution Amounts Have Increased

For many years, the most you could put into an IRA was
$2,000. Now, the maximum is $4,000 (assuming you have at
least that much earned income from wages or self-employment
income).

And if you are over 49, you can put in another $500,
bringing the total maximum to $4,500.

A married couple, both age 50 or older, can put a whopping
$9,000 per year into a IRA. Not too shabby, eh?

One final note about these Roth IRA rules: For married
people, you can only contribute the maximum of $4,000 or
$4,500 if your combined income is less than $150,000.

If you are single or head of household, you can contribute
the maximum if your income is less than $95,000.

For most middle-class folks looking for a perfectly legal
way to permanently avoid tax (rather then merely temporarily
postpone tax), the Roth IRA fits the bill.

Now comes the hard part — how to actually implement this
tax avoidance strategy.

“We’d like to save as much as we can for our golden years.
But $9,000 a year? It’s hard to put aside that kind of
money. We need every dollar we make just to pay the bills.”

If that’s your situation, I’m not going to get up on my
“what-do-you-mean-you-can’t-save-any-money-for-retirement”
soapbox and start preaching at you.

I will say this: You’ve got to start somewhere, and you’ve
got to start saving something, don’t you?

People who have a problem saving for retirement usually have
a budgeting problem. For an excellent resource on
budgeting, I highly recommend the Budget Stretcher web site:

6 Top Weight Lifting Workout Tips

Image starting your strength training routine knowing you are about to begin the most effective, efficient workout routine
possible. Being on a weight lifting workout routine that gets
you in and out of the gym as quickly as possible with maximum
benefit is what everyone should be aiming for.

After twenty plus years of celebrity fitness training in Beverly
Hills, California, I would like to share with you my top six,
most effective, weight lifting tips. If you follow these tips,
you will know you have accomplished the maximum in the
least amount of time.

Here are the six best muscle building workout tips I have
discovered throughout my years as a celebrity fitness trainer.
Please note: consult with your physician prior to taking part
in any exercise program. Each individual has their own specific
medical history, and overall objectives.

1. Use Multi-Joint Exercises

You will want to incorporate weight lifting exercises that
work more than one muscle group at a time. Two or more joints
are moving throughout a particular strength training exercise.
Performing an exercise like this will utilize a greater amount of muscle fibers, thus stimulating growth, as well as burning more calories. Examples of such multi-joint exercises are the chest press, leg press, leg squat, pulldown, and shoulder press. These are all very effective exercises leading to greater muscle development.

2. Focus on Form Before Weight

While lifting weights, it is important to focus on form. Let the particular muscle do the work, not momentum, or other muscles you are not targeting. You goal is to fatigue a particular muscle to its absolute maximum. It is not important to impress someone else in the gym with the weights you are lifting. Focus on working the muscle!

3. Repetitions Should Be Slow and Controlled

Eliminating the external force, momentum, is the key. Once again,
let the targeted muscle do the work, and nothing else. Zone in on that particular muscle. You should concentrate on moving the weight using a cadence of two seconds positive motion, and four seconds back (negative). Please remember, this is weight lifting, not weight throwing.

4. Proper Rest Between Workouts Is Critical

Make sure your weight training workouts are high enough in
intensity to stimulate muscle tissue growth, and have the proper
rest between workouts to allow this growth to occur. The average
amount of rest between workouts is 2-10+ days depending upon
the intensity level. You shouldn’t feel tired, and sore before your next workout, but eager to conquer the weights.

5. Don’t Do Too Many Sets

Too many sets will put you in an over-trained zone. All you need
is one, all out, set to momentary muscle failure in order to stimulate optimal muscle growth. Anything more is counter productive. However, light warm up sets are fine, and necessary.

6. Track Your Progress

Without tracking your workouts you will not know where you are, and where you need to go. Be a mad scientist and track your workouts. The information you gather will tell you more about yourself than a muscle magazine will.

If you want the most effective, efficient weight training workout, then follow these six simple tips to maximum muscle development.

Tips for Finding Cheap Life Insurance

Cheap life insurance is out there, if you know what you’re looking for. That’s why it’s important to do your research. You’ve got to educate yourself on the various types of life insurance policies that are available, including additional benefits that may or may not be offered. Plus, you should make an effort to research your options as they relate to the various life insurance companies. It’ll be to your advantage to know what you want and need in terms of cheap life insurance before you start getting quotes.

Term vs. whole life

The first big determinant of cheap life insurance is the type you select. Term life insurance will almost always cost you less than whole life insurance. Term insurance is purchased for a specific period of time, for a specific face value. Whole life, as the name implies, provides life insurance benefits for the rest of your life, whether that ends up being 10 years or 50. Whole life insurance policies generally have a cash value aspect meaning you’ll pay more in monthly premiums. The amount over and above that which is necessary to cover the premium is used for investment purposes.

Even if you do choose whole life insurance, your costs can be lower if you look around for a policy that has lower fees. The fees you want to pay attention to aren’t really fees, they’re commissions. Commissions can eat away at the cash value of your whole life policy. When researching, look for the term, “low load” as that generally means lower fees.

But be careful. You’ll find this type of life insurance won’t be cheap if you withdraw funds. When the policy’s cash value is greater than the premiums paid, you’ll likely have to pay taxes. A loan against the cash value may have the same end result. Think long and hard about this type of life insurance policy; it’s not meant to be a substitute for a more traditional type of investment plan. And the premiums you’ll pay will be hefty.

Steer clear of guaranteed issue policies

Also when looking for a cheap life insurance policy, you won’t find it in a “guaranteed issue” type of policy. These policies are guaranteed to cover anyone, regardless health. No medical exam is required but that convenience comes with a big price tag. Because the life insurance company is taking a substantial risk by insuring individuals without knowing their state of health, premiums will be high. If you’re healthy, opt instead for a traditional term policy.

If you’re not healthy, taking steps to improve your health may help you find cheaper life insurance. Lowering weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol levels are beneficial steps. Kicking the nicotine habit is also advisable. The better your health at the time of application, the cheaper your life insurance premium should be.

Finally, to get cheap life insurance, purchase just what you need. Reevaluate your life insurance needs periodically and adjust upwards or down as necessary. The bottom line: Finding cheap life insurance is possible, but it does take work.

How Genreation 2 Swords are Made

Filed under:Internet Martial Arts — posted on @ 1:09 am

Swords of Honor will now carry the quality made swords called Generation 2. These swords will include Roman Gladius swords, Scottish swords, Celtic swords, Crusader swords, Viking swords, Movie and Fantasy swords, and more. Also, a very special limited edition “Iron Mistress” is now available in limited quantities.

The manufacturer is now producing the new swords (unlike any they have ever produced) with all new specifications, and a new tempering process that will truly make the Generation2* swords ready to win the Steel-to-SteelSM challenge. Each piece of the sword or knife and each scabbard it made and fit for just that piece, not mass produced and mass assembled. Each one is meticulously done, but yes at different specialized stations.

All tangs are a continuation of the blade that runs completely through the handle and connects to the pommel (not the thin rod used in most all swords). Although they are historically correct in appearance, specifications were set to produce a sword that could withstand the riggers of steel to steel and not produce a failure.

The first test was on several 2″x 4″s standing up and split them with no marring on the blade. The second test was on a 2″x 4″ cross ways resting on a solid rest and striking straight down. It did not cut all the way through, but it did cut deep and again did not mar the blade or edge. Then the ultimate test was Steel-to-Steel *, with 9 good blows. These tests resulted in NO breakage or looseness developing in the blade, tang, or handle of the swords.
