The Second Most Important Element of Your Ad… after the Headline

Hi {FIRSTNAME Friend},

Next time you’re flicking through your local newspaper, take a good hard look at the ads. And notice how many of them give you a compelling reason to pick up the phone and get in touch with them now. You’ll need to look closely because…

FINDING AN AD WITH A POWERFUL, KNOCK-EM DEAD OFFER IS LIKE LOOKING FOR A NEEDLE IN A HAYSTACK

But why is a powerful offer so important?

Listen: People will only give your ad a few seconds. If you’re lucky enough to catch them with a strong headline… then they’ll read your ad… but if they get to the end of it and there’s not a dynamite offer to knock their socks off, they’ll turn over to the next page… and your opportunity is gone… FOREVER.

You need to apply offers differently based on the type of business you operate…

1. A service business with a high value product (solicitor, accountant, real estate agent, consultant, copywriter) could offer a FREE REPORT of some sort. Here’s some examples:

Free Report Reveals How To Make Your Assets As Secure As Fort Knox And Deter Any Scumbag From Taking Everything You’ve Got (solicitor)

Free Report Reveals How To Sell Your Home Faster And For A Higher Price (real estate agent - for generating listings)

Free Report Reveals How To Write Ads And Sales Letters That Practically Make People Line Up And Beg You To Take Their Money (copywriter)

Get the idea?

2. A business which has products which customers keep buying over and over again (e.g. ice cream shop, grocer, restaurant, hairdresser etc) would approach things a little differently. Here’s some examples:

Anyone who says there’s no such thing as a Free Lunch hasn’t read this letter

Free Ice Cream… simply present this offer in our store before (date) to collect yours

Free Haircut to introduce you to our new salon

Now you may well wonder… how can I make any money by giving everything away for FREE. The answer is simple.

You must identify the lifetime value of your customer. That is, how much does the average client invest with you over a lifetime.

To work it out, you need to identify:

a) Your average sale
b) How many times the average client purchases from you in a given year
c) How many years a client stays with you

For instance, if a hairdresser’s average client…

- Gets a haircut from them 10 times a year.
- And stays with them for 3 years
- And spends $40 on each visit

That’s 20 visits at $40 a pop = $1200. At a 50% profit margin, each client is worth $600 to them.

Suddenly a free haircut on a day you’re not busy anyway… doesn’t really seem so much does it?

Warmly,

Bottled Water - Is It Really So Good?

Filed under:World Of Nutrition — posted on @ 6:10 pm

I am sure that when most of us pick up a bottle of water in the supermarket we think that we are buying a purer and healthier product than we would be getting if we drank from the tap. But, is that really true, or are we all falling for the perception of superior health and purity which the bottled spring-water marketers would like us to believe?

A group of experts in the UK thinks that EU tap-water is best. They have gone on record to point out that tap-water in European Union, where the drinking water supplied by our water utility companies is all regulated under the same very high standards set by EU Directives, is better monitored and regulated than bottled water, and is likely to be better for you.

While it is true that EU Regulations do now also set quality standards for all bottled water, there are still no rigorous labelling requirements. Bottled water labelling is insufficent to enable people to judge for themselves from a standardised set of information, whether the bottle they drink is either purer or less so than tap water, or indeed how it compares with other similar products.

Also, when it comes to considering purity it should be noted that the purest water is distilled water, but nobody suggests that distilled water is the healthiest. When compiling the EU Drinking Water standards this was recognised, and as a result water sources which do not, are improved. For example, for healthier living the water we drink should contain a certain amount of calcium, so very “soft” waters are improved during the treatment stage by the addition of recognised healthy minimum quantities of calcium, from natural sources.

Not only is potable water from the tap subject to stringent quality controls, anyone with internet access can very quickly and simply view information of the current quality their supply, including actual test data. They can see, for example, bacteriological and chemical content, and all this is available completely free of charge at the UK Drinking Water Inspectorate website (www.dwi.gov.uk).

Bottled water is also incredibly expensive. It is on average 500 times more expensive than drinking water. Nevertheless, we are buying it in huge amounts, and it is quite expensive to produce when you consider that the most highly promoted and most popular brands in the UK are French imports, entailing all the transport costs that this implies.

To quote the UK’s Executive Director of the Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management (CIWM):-

“Branding and bottling of water where there already exists a wholesome* and safe supply of mains drinking water cannot be seen as a sustainable use of natural resources, and adds to the over-all levels of waste and pollution to be managed in modern society”.

Finally, to demonstrate the cost of bottled water, we have it from a good source that in 2004 the House of Commons spent over £11,000 (GBP) or $19,000 (US Dollars), on an amount which, if tap water, would have cost just £25 (GBP) or $44 (US Dollars).

* - Author’s Note: When outside the developed world it is, of course, safest to use bottled water. In fact, it is considered best by the Drinking Water inspector, to buy bottled water and add a disinfectant or boil the water – unless of course you are an expert and know that the local source is wholesome.

Succeed In the Music Biz By Planning Your Success.

Getting a record deal can be easy to do with proper planning. There are many experienced professionals in the music biz who will tell you that the music biz is all business. I agree. With any business, proper planning is the key to success in the music biz. This article describes some simple steps to plan your success.

Think of your career as a business. Have you assembled your business plan? How do you plan to market? What is your mission statement? Are you going to start your own record label to be distributed by a major, or are you going to use the full service resources of a major label? These are all important issues that you have to have in order to really succeed in the music biz. A music biz plan helps you resolve these issues well in advance.

A lot of recording artists enter the music biz with one big goal “to make it”. These artists see themselves on a big stage in front of thousands of screaming fans, but often that is as far as the planning goes. Artists rarely conduct the planning that it takes to succeed in the music biz.

I’ve yet to speak to an artist who has a business plan. In my experience if you don’t have a business plan, then you shouldn’t plan on being in business. A good business plan will cover your business and legal structure, your marketing model, financial projections, goals, benchmarks and finally what you’ll do after the your career is over.

I’ve met many recording artists who treat the music biz like a glorified hobby. They often don’t have business cards, a website or in many cases, a valid email address. Many more artists don’t have the marketing structure in place that will allow them to get the attention from fans or record labels. Remember that the music biz is all business. If you treat your music career as a hobby then you might as well just play your music for friends and family and be content with people pretending to take you seriously.

Getting attention and interest from record labels is easy if you are on the radar. Many Artist and Repertoire Representatives (A&R Reps) agree that if an artist is making it happen on for themselves (by selling a couple thousand CD’s locally or selling out a 2,000 seat venue) they will get on the major label radar. You can’t get on the radar of the record labels (or your fans) if you are flying by the seat of your pants and living on a prayer.

As a wise person once said “failing to plan is planning to fail”.

Such a thing as bait overload?

As ebook publishers we constantly strive to develop new information products that we
hope people will find value in, open up their wallets and graciously hand over their hard
earned dollars to us in their hope of learning something new or finding an immediate
solution to fix whatever problems they may be experiencing at that moment in their life. I
call this a hunger for curable knowledge, a fixer upper of sorts. It is often a battle for
many of us to decide on a realistic price that we believe the potential customer will
perceive as fair value. We all know, at times, this can be a painstaking task. We bounce
back and forth between prices, testing out the waters, trying to find just the acceptable
price range to motivate the visitor to make that all important decision. It’s easier said
than done. As marketers we have the temptation of offering bonuses as a way to increase
the perception that this info product we worked hard to develop is actually worth the
price were asking. But when does this strategy reach the plateau of overkill? To the
point where offering so many extra bonuses to entice the visitor to buy at the price of
$27.00, instead are we not actually implanting the emotion of doubt in our visitors mind?
Another difficult question to answer. As we all try our best to try and put ourselves in
our customers shoes, to try and figure out what their thinking when they see our offer, but
were not all psychic. Could our customers be thinking “If the author is offering this
many bonus ebooks in his or her offer to entice me to buy this one ebook is the
information in that ebook really worth the price?”. Then there’s alway’s the argument
that adding many bonuses to an existing offer definitely increases the chances for a sale.
Raises the perceived value of course! I agree that this type of marketing does work, but
only when applied to a book that we are asking a much higher price for, such as $97.00.
Asking people to fork out that kind of cash can be pretty risky simply because many
people can’t afford the asking price, or figure it’s not worth it. Whatever information
that is contained in that ebook had better be hard to come by information or the
percentage of refund requests could be high. To avoid this potential downfall is when
offering bonuses should come into play. But the bottom line is this, if the information
contained in the ebook your offering is truly valuable why bother offering a bunch of
bonuses in the first place, possibly risking making your prospect suspicious? Not
everyone perceives the same way. If they take the risk (and a lot of people who purchase
online feel they do take risks when making a purchase) and buy your info product
without any bonuses and like what they read, as long as it helped them, most of the time
they won’t ask for a refund, and you’ve made a sale and everyone’s happy. Long
extended no questions asked money back guarantees can be a great way of putting your
prospects fears at ease, but sometimes it can backfire to. But even more importantly than
offering bonuses, 1 year money back guarantees and all the rest, it’s absolutely critical
and probably the most important part of closing a sale is to have your contact information
in plain view on your site. A place they can call and to talk to a “real person” before
deciding to buy, and a physical address, not a P.O. Box. More often than not that’s all
that’s required besides good ad copy, but I see many sites in my web surfing adventures who fall short on
providing that information. As a customer would I buy from them…not a chance.

Control Your Own Level of Motivation

When I first mention this to most people, they really don’t get it, so here is a simple formula for keeping your moods upbeat.

Audio books and music can be used as tools for motivation. The audio book is such a great motivational and learning tool, while you are commuting, or just out for a drive by yourself. I mention “by yourself” because, ideally, you should spend quality time with people in your car.

You can learn so much about life and a self-improvement audio book can keep you motivated all day long.

When I first started listening to audio books it was during commuter traffic through Providence and Boston. I would show up to meetings relaxed, with fresh ideas, and motivated. When people asked me the secret, I told them about the magic of audio books.

Most of them never asked me again, thought I was some strange eternal optimist, and never bothered to try an audio book.

Unfortunately, many people are slaves to stress, and don’t want to change anything. They go about their lives with a perfect recipe for a heart attack and high blood pressure.

Here is the ultimate recipe for a very sad and short life. You must combine “running late” to work, high volume traffic, the daily latte, a high stress job, and show up barely on time or late.

Some people are, what I call, “mad at the world.” They drive from one intersection to the next, making gestures at everyone. Some of these people can be helped, while others go through a daily cycle of frustration and even invite violence.

Now, let’s get back to you. As long as you stay aware, you have control over your motivation, moods, and level of optimism. So, take charge by plugging yourself into positive energy with books, audio books, music, and positive people.

Fishing: Reel The Excitement In!

Picture it: a father and son waiting on a harbor over a lake, their bare legs dangling over the water, each of them holding a fishing rod. It’s a scene bound to endear children and excite families, simply because fishing has long been used by humans for both relaxation and industry.

Put simply, fishing covers all activities involved in hunting and catching fish and other aquatic animals such as octopus, turtles, shellfish, and squid. Fishing first began about ten thousand years ago. Fishing was considered a game for the lower classes in ancient Greece, but the Chinese regarded the skill as a gift from the gods. The ancient Egyptians were known for their fishing implements and improvised fishing methods, most of which are captured in illustrations in the pyramids, and in papyrus documents.

Fishing today can take on many forms, from the simple boat on the lake, and occasional conversation amongst friends or relatives; to the larger, industrial boat in the middle of the sea, with its gigantic net.

The following are a few types of common fishing methods.

• With the proper skill, and with only a few pieces of equipment, some fishermen can catch fish by hand – without the fish even slipping out! Hand fishing is still practiced in some villages around the world, where shallow waters near rivers, or by the sea, can be a source of fish for the evening’s meal.

• Using a spear, a bow, and a keen eye, some fishermen can engage in spear and bow fishing. This requires great strength and dexterity, and it has been practiced for centuries. In fact, with the proper equipment, fishermen can use only a bow and arrow to catch fish!

• Other fishermen cast nets out in their body of water of choice. Such a method, sometimes known as cast net fishing, can allow farmers a larger catch – this, however, can also lead to them catching unwanted (or unintended) animals or even objects. These include dolphins, seals, or even trash.

• Larger fishing vessels engage in trawling, or dragging a large net through the sea, allowing the net to catch whatever it can gather. Like cast net fishing, trawling can catch other animals, like sharks or baby whales.

• A more damaging version of trawling is dredging, where the seabed is disrupted in the hopes of getting more fish to swim nearer to the surface and into the net.

• A common method of catching fish is by using a fishing line, with bait attached at the end. This is done usually for recreational purposes, and involves some skill and “getting the fish to bite.” A variation of this method is fly fishing, in which colorful, feathery objects serve as lure, and where a fishing line is cast at a certain angle onto the surface of a body of water. The fly fishing enthusiast often stands knee-deep in the water while this is done.

• Ice fishing is a variation of line fishing, this time done through a hole on the surface of an iced body of water. Ice fishers cut out a hole in the ice to expose the still liquid water, and the fish swimming below.

• Some fishermen lay out fish traps, which are contraptions meant to lure fish and cage them in, so that fishermen may take them out much later.

• Not all fishing methods are mild. Some fishermen, in their wish to catch more fish, use toxins such as cyanide to poison whole populations of fish, which they can then gather by hand. This method, however, poisons even juvenile fish, leaving no more fish for the next generation, and no harvest for the next catch.

Another dangerous method involves the use of dynamite. This is common in the waters of Southeast Asia, where fish often hide in corals.

• Electrofishing is a new, non-invasive method of catching fish. It involves passing electric currents through water, prompting a fish to be lured to the source of the current, then disabling it for the moment so that it may be harvested. Electrofishing, though relatively simple, needs skill to assure that no unintended animals will be harmed.

Fishing is always an exciting and relaxing activity – and it can lead to a delicious dinner too! If it is done with minimal damage to the environment, then there will surely be enough fish left for fishing to endure in the generations to come.

Communication: Listening and Loving

How to get your man to open up?

1.Compliments are a wonderful way to affirm your man. Tell him all the wonderful things you love about him.

In so doing you endear him to you and most naturally cause him to open up and reciprocate concerning all the phenomenal things he is thrilled about concerning you.

2.Ask questions. Politely and gently ask your man how he is feeling, how his week is going and if there is anything on his mind he’d like to talk about. You know not because you ask not. If you want to know what’s on his mind, ask him.

3.Listen to him attentively when he does talk. Put down whatever it is you are doing and be an active listener. When your man is talking is not the time to multi-task. Show him that he is top priority and what he has to say matters and is most important to you.

Women by nature can typically dominate conversations as they speak more words per day than men. If you really want your man to open up than you must listen when he talks and not interrupt. The quickest way to get someone to shut down is to continually interrupt them every time they try to speak to you.

When you interject your thoughts and ideas when a person is speaking it says, “I already know what you are going to say. What you are saying is not important to me. Listen to what I want to talk about.”

4.Don’t offer advice. Affirm him and acknowledge his intelligence. Tell him: “I know you are wise and will do what is best.” If he wants advice let him ask for it. If you show yourself supportive and believe in him, you will be the first person he goes to when he needs to bounce ideas around before taking action.

5.Don’t criticize. When you withhold criticism and judgment you create a safe place between you and your man. Safety and security is extremely important to assure continual communication in a relationship.

You don’t have to always agree with your man, but you most certainly can listen. Let listening be a means by which you gain understanding as to his thought processes, discover his values and learn what ultimately is most important to him.

Why is communication important in a relationship?

The key to communication is listening. Anybody can talk. And just because you are talking does not mean anybody is listening. If you are only talking and nobody is truly listening you are merely performing a monologue.

Communication is important in a relationship because it is the first way we express how we feel and what we think. Your mouth is connected to your heart. From the overflow of the heart comes the words of the mouth.

If you don’t listen to your man, somebody else will. And the person he shares his secrets with is the person he shares his heart with. Remember that the next time he opens up and you are less than interested. Learn to be actively interested in what interests your man. In so doing your love will deepen, your connection grow and your understanding increase.

Nothing feels better than being able to be completely transparent, real and open with someone who does not judge you but loves you as you are. Unconditional love is affirming and accepting at all times. It is first shown in the way we listen to one another.

Happy listening and loving!

A Guide to the Colors and Meanings of Awareness Ribbons

Although many of the awareness ribbons are known mainly for a single cause, the fact is that nearly all of them can represent a combination of illnesses, ideals, and life events as varied as the people who use them as silent testimony to their beliefs or personal tragedies and triumphs. In fact, very few ribbons have only a single purpose, the most well recognized being the puzzle ribbon which symbolizes autism.

As an example, the pink ribbon is best known as a symbol for breast cancer awareness as well as those who have survived it or continue to struggle against it. However, did you know that the pink ribbon is also used as a symbol of childhood cancer as well as birth parents? As mentioned before, you probably see the yellow ribbon nearly every day, but were you aware that aside from its nationally known symbolic gesture of support for our troops, it is also a symbol for suicide prevention, spina bifida, and several other causes. Another popular ribbon is the red ribbon- most often associated with the fight against AIDS and HIV. Alternately, this ribbon also symbolizes stroke, heart disease, and other causes.

Now that you are familiar with the myriad of purposes behind a few of the most well-known awareness ribbons, you may be surprised to learn that there is an entire rainbow of colors left to learn about. In fact, there actually is a rainbow ribbon which is a symbol of gay pride and support of the GLBT (gay/lesbian/bi-sexual/transsexual) community in their quest for equal rights. Each ribbon from teal to brown holds a special meaning for someone, and often the same color will hold different meanings for different people.

Learn more about the many colors of awareness ribbons and their meanings. Find the color which symbolizes the cause most important to you, and then show its significance in your life with a car magnet, a ribbon attached to your lapel, or an awareness ribbon bracelet.

2. Believe that you can change all aspects of your life!

3. Turn your life over to a higher power. You cannot control other people, places and things. Ask for help with all areas of your life.

4. List aspects of your life that need to change. Check with relatives, friends & family members to ‘call you’ on your past mistakes and ask for suggestions on how best to correct them. Your interactions with others are important to your well-being and quality of life.

5. Ask your doctor or health care provider if adding vitamins, supplements, or a natural diet suppressant to your diet will be beneficial for you.

6. Be ready to change your lifestyle, including eating habits. Change from within through prayer and meditation.

7. Ask your doctor, healthcare provider, friends and family members how you can overcome your existing bad habits & replace them with new ones.

8. Make a list of people, places and things. Expand relationships with old friends, make new ones. Visit places that you need to for reconciling your differences. If you think you need a gadget, think twice about how necessary it really is; perhaps giving to a charity will be a better choice.

9. Complete a full day without saying anything unkind to any one. Work particularly hard to change a bad habit: i.e. eating sweets, watching too much TV, not getting out of the house, procrastinating in general - etc.

10. Continue to change each day. It will take awhile before your habits become established. Practice forgiving yourself and others. Try to do better each day. Strive for progress, not perfection.

11. Seek change and guidance through meditation and prayer. Do this every day at the same time to establish a habit.

12. Pass this information on to everyone you know! You have my permission to reprint, reproduce, and forward to your friends and relatives.

About Spyware and its Removal

Filed under:The Software Way — posted on @ 8:55 am

Now days you might have take notice of a threatening word “Spyware”. Spyware software is becoming annoyance for the companies. Spyware is likely to be verified as a great damager to the companies. It is not so noticeable like spam and virus assaults to the systems. Spyware could be destructive and cause financial losses.

Spyware, it is almost an invisible software programs that collects and transmits personal or company’s important data through the Internet without being noticed. The transferred data could be used for smashing up your company’s credit or might hard hit its profits. Spyware is also commonly acknowledged as Adware, Malware, Sneakware and Snoopware

Entrance ways: Spyware could enter your network by auto-download software that automatically downloaded to your network, even without user’s acknowledgement. It could also enter with software, which is downloaded by user that includes Spyware program. Most common entry of this software is pop-ups, which appears while opening any site. The pop-ups are very attractively designed to allure user to click it.

The Spyware software is not even blocked by firewall programs, as user itself allows it, of-course, due to unawareness. Similarly, the usual antivirus programs are also unable not block it, due to they don’t seem as wicked as viruses.

Safeguard against Spyware: User should completely read and understand the license agreement before downloading any software. Avoid downloading unknown and fallacious software from the internet. Keep away from clicking pop-up that put forward mouthwatering offers.

The constant use of anti-Spyware software: It could prevent entering such harmful programs to your network. The best precautious step is that, a user could apply to block Spyware access via gateway security solutions like the NetApp Internet access and security (IAS) solution, which stops admittance to Web sites offering Spyware.

There are several anti-spyware programs available out there. These programs search and eliminate Spyware and adware. They can detect and sweep off huge number of adware files and modules. Some of these programs also clean program and web-usage path from your network that is very helpful if the system is shared. There also some free downloadable software on authentic sites like www.download.com, www.mcafee.com, www.spywareinfo.com, www.all-internet-security.com, www.tucows.com etc or you can use keyword “free antiSpyware download” in search.
But make sure you do not download or buy any anti-Spyware program without checking its authenticity, at least now onwards.
