Appropriate Gifts For A Baby Shower

Celebrating the upcoming birth of a child by arranging a baby shower has become more and more popular. What better way to celebrate the arrival of a new little person to the world, than to have a nice little party for close friends and family.

It is customary to bring the new parents and their baby some gifts on this joyous occasion, and in this article we will look at some appropriate the gifts that will prove truly useful.

When buying gifts for a child, toys are usually the first thing that springs to mind. However, there are also many other items that are suitable. Also, remember that baby shower gifts need not only be for the baby. It is equally thoughtful to get something for the parents to be.

Buying toys

If you have decided to purchase a toy, or at least something playful, consider buying something that is educational and will boost the baby’s brainpower. There is a rich selection of classic baby books and educational cd’s and DVD’s to choose from. For example, the Brainy Baby and Baby Einstein DVDs are highly recommended. And a visit to the local bookstore will surely provide you with many great alternatives. You may even find that some of the favourites from your own childhood are still available in reprinted edition, as well as books from many new authors. Choose books with many bright and bold pictures in them.

As for actual toys, there are many entertaining alternatives available. If you find something you like, you can certainly buy a toy for older babies that the baby can use when it grows a bit older. But just to be safe, stick to the toys for kids aged 3 and under.

Practical gifts for baby and parents

Some people are under the impression that a gift can’t be something “useful and boring”. However, while something like disposable diapers may not be the most fancy gift to give for a baby shower, it would definitely be a most thoughtful gift and most appreciated.

Diapers are expensive and babies will use them up very quickly. The new parents will appreciate them. Even those parents who opt to use cloth diapers may also find disposable diapers useful when travelling. A tip when buying diapers, pick the larger size ones instead of newborn diapers. After all, babies nowadays grow very fast and the newborn-size diapers may not be useful for very long. And while you are at it, why not thrown in some baby wipes as well.

Since hygiene is so important for little infants, a nice selection of baby bathroom essentials would also make a very thoughtful present. This does not have to be “boring” at all, as there are many things like cute baby puppets that may also double as scrubbing tools, or bubble bath with a soothing lavender scent will make bath time an entertaining experience for both the baby and parents. A hooded towel and some sweet smelling baby cologne or lotion is also suitable bath time goodies gifts.

Other usable items are pacifiers and bottles. However you should be aware that some babies prefer to use only a particular brand or shape for these items. If the parents-to-be have specified in the baby registry a brand or shape of bottles, nipples, and pacifiers, these items may be a safe choice for a baby shower gift. Otherwise, just steer clear from these baby items.

Finally, clothes is something that every baby needs - and will grow out of quickly. For this reason it may be a good idea to choose somewhat larger sizes than newborn sizes. Knowing the season the baby will arrive, and if at all possible the baby’s gender, is also most helpful in choosing the clothes that will be just right.

If you, in spite of all these ideas and suggestions, can’t come up with anything that you think would make an appropriate gift, a last resort could be to simply give the new parents a gift certificate for buying what they want themselves.

Overall, it is also a good idea to speak with some of the other guests of the baby shower well before the event takes place. You wouldn’t want EVERYONE to bring disposable diapers, would you?

The Difference Between Karate and Tae Kwon Do

Filed under:Internet Martial Arts — posted on @ 1:19 pm

The two most common martial arts practiced in North America are karate and tae kwon do. Many wonder what the difference between these two martial arts is. This is especially the case for those who are just starting to look around for a martial arts studio. After all, most practitioners in both karate and tae kwon do seem to wear the same type of white gi uniforms with various colored belts.

Modern traditional karate was developed in the islands of Okinawa in Japan after some influences from Chinese martial arts. There are actually different styles of karate but they are all commonly considered as Japanese martial arts today. The colored belt system was developed to show the various ranks of karate practitioners with white depicting novices and black belts (with various degrees) representing instructor levels and higher. There is a whole range of other different colors in between. Modern tae kwon do was developed in Korea after much influence from Japanese karate during the occupation by Japan. Indeed, tae kwon do is sometimes referred to as Korean karate. The Koreans adopted similar white uniforms along with a colored belt ranking system for tae kwon do. Today, there are two main styles of tae kwon do, one under the International Tae Kwon Do Federation and the other under the World Tae Kwon Do Federation. Many tae kwon do schools have added a black lining to their white uniforms for black belt levels. A V-neck top is often seen in schools affiliated with the World Tae Kwon Do Federation. There are also older Korean styles including tang soo do and moo duk kwan. Some of the more Americanized karate and tae kwon do schools also use uniforms with other colors such as red, black and blue in addition to the traditional white.

It can be generalized that in karate, one would use their arms or hands for 60% of the time for strikes or blocks while the use of legs for kicking will be about 40%. This breakdown is seen in the many forms or katas of karate which are set routines which simulate fighting against imaginary opponents using martial arts techniques. The forms from tae kwon do would have the opposite percentage breakdown with 40% hands and 60% legs. In tae kwon do, there is also more emphasis on higher kicks to the head level than in karate. Tae kwon do practitioners also utilize more jumping or flying kicks where one is airborne while executing kicking techniques. The tae kwon do forms or patterns are generally a bit shorter and less complex than the karate forms. Some tae kwon do schools have been known to use the odd karate form in its curriculum as well.

In North America as well as other parts of the world, there are separate traditional competitions for karate and tae kwon do. However, the open martial arts tournaments in North America often have competitors from both karate and tae kwon do competing together. Some of the larger open martial arts competition events will have separate forms divisions for Japanese karate and Korean tae kwon do competitors but the fighting or sparring divisions will usually be combined. Many black belts in tae kwon do end up studying karate as well and the opposite has been true too. Tae kwon do has received more publicity in recent years since its introduction as an Olympic sport. The style and rules used for the Olympic version of tae kwon do fighting comes from the World Tae Kwon Do Federation (WTF). Both karate and tae kwon do are considered as hard style martial arts in North America today (as opposed to soft styles such as the many versions of Chinese kung fu).

Weight Lifting Belts - Do You Really Need to Wear Them?

I’m sure you have asked your friends or even trainers, do I need to wear a weight lifting belt while weight training? Half of them probably said yes while the other half said no. So where does that leave you? Maybe you should have asked them, when should weight lifting belts be worn?

Based on research from Stuart McGill who is a professor of spine biomechanics at the University of Waterloo in Ontario Canada, it all depends on the type of training you perform. McGill does not recommend weight lifting belts for healthy individuals. His exception is for extreme bodybuilders because a weight lifting belt will help increase stability.

Below is a list of advantages and disadvantages of wearing weight lifting belts:
Advantages - They help support your spine

- They help decrease the chance of lower back injury

- Give people confidence they may not have had prior to training without a belt

Disadvantages - Some people may cover up an injury with the belt

- Increase of blood pressure depending on how tight you make it

- They may cause a slight change in your lifting style, which may cause injury

I am a firm believer in wearing weight lifting belts. I started with one when I was younger and have been wearing one ever since. I guess it is like a security blanket for me. It also makes me feel “BIG” and gives me confidence. My thought is, if a weight lifting belt makes you feel good and it psychologically helps you to perform better in the gym, then by all means, wear it.

Relax, A Volatile Stock Market Is Your Dearest Friend

Most people never forget their first love. I’ll never forget my first trading profit! But the $600 (1970 dollars) I pocketed on Royal Dutch Petroleum was not nearly as significant as the conceptual realization it signaled! I was amazed that someone would pay me that much more for my stock than the newspaper said it was worth just a few weeks earlier! What had changed? What had happened to make the stock go up, and why had it been down in the first place? Without ever needing to know the answers, I’ve been trading RD for thirty-six years!

Looking at scores of similarly profitable, high quality companies in this manner, you would find that: (1) most move up and down regularly (if not predictably) with an upward long-term bias, and (2) that there is little if any similarity in the timing of the movements between the stocks themselves. This is the “Volatility” that most people fear and that Wall Street loves them to fear. It can be narrowly confined to certain sectors, or much broader, encompassing practically everything. The broader it becomes, the more likely it is to be categorized as either a rally or a correction. Most years will feature one or two of each. This is the natural condition of things in the stock market, Mother Nature, Inc. if you will. Don’t take her for granted when she gets high, and never ignore her when she feels low. Embrace her volatile moods, work with them in whatever direction they travel, and she will become your love as well!

Ironically, it is this natural volatility (caused by hundreds of variables human, economic, political, natural, etc.) that is the only real “certainty” existent in the financial markets. And, as absurd as this may sound until you experience the reality of it all, it is this one and only certainty that makes Mutual Funds in general (and Index Funds in particular) totally unsuitable as investment vehicles for anyone within seven to ten years of retirement! How many Mutual Fund investors have retired recently with more liquid financial assets than they had seven years ago, way back in 1999? There will always be rallies and corrections. In fact, it is worthwhile to “go back to the future” to establish a realistic Investment Strategy. In the last forty years, there have been no less than ten 20% or greater corrections followed by rallies that brought the market to significantly higher levels. The DJIA peaked at 2700 before its record 40% crash in 1987. But at 1700, it was still 70% above the 1000 barrier that it danced around with for decades before… always a higher high, rarely a lower low. The ‘87 debacle was followed by several slightly less exciting corrections, but the case was being made for a more flexible, and realistic, Investment Strategy. Mutual Funds were spawned by a Buy and Hold Mentality; Mother Nature, Inc is a much more complicated enterprise.

Call it foresight, or hindsight if you want to be argumentative, but a long-term view of the Investment Process eliminates the guesswork and points pretty clearly toward a trading mentality that keys on the natural volatility of hundreds of Investment Grade Equities. During corrections, consider these simple truths: 1) although there are more sellers than buyers, the buyers intend to make money on their purchases, 2) so long as everything is down, don’t worry so much about the price of individual holdings, 3) fast and steep corrections are better than the slow attrition variety, 4) always accept even half your normal profit target while buying opportunities are plentiful, 5) don’t be in a rush to fill your portfolio, but if cash dries up before it’s over, you are doing it “correctly”.

Most of the problems with Mutual Funds and much of the increased opportunity in Individual Stock trading are functions of growing non-professional Equity ownership. Everyone is in the stock market these days whether they like it or not, and when the media fans the emotions of the masses, the masses create volatility that rarely under-reacts to market conditions! Rarely will unit owners take profits, particularly if they have to pay withdrawal penalties or taxes. Even more unusual are expert advisors who encourage investors to move into the markets when prices are falling.

A volatile market creates opportunities with every gyration, but you have to be willing to transact to reap the benefits. A necessary first step is to recognize that both “up” and “down” markets are forces of nature with abundant potential. The proper attitude toward the latter, will make you much more appreciative of the former. Most investment strategies require answers to unanswerable questions, in an effort to be in the right place at the right time. Indecisiveness doesn’t cut it with Mamma… in or out too soon is not an issue with her. But wasting the opportunities she provides really ticks her off! Successful investment strategies require an understanding of the forces of nature, and disciplined rules of portfolio management. If you can transition back to individual securities, you will do better at moving toward your goals, most of the time, because the opportunities are out there… all of the time.

So let’s adopt some new rules for this investment game and learn to live with them for a few cycles: Let’s buy good stocks new and old at lower prices during corrections. Let’s take reasonable profits on those that go up in price, whenever they are kind enough to do so. Let’s examine our performance based on the results of these trading transactions alone and at market cycle examination points for a smiley faced change of pace. And one other thing…

Let’s drink a toast to Mother Nature, her uncertainty, her volatility, and, of course, to our first loves.

Insomnia - Symptoms and Treatment Options

Filed under:Life Of Health — posted on @ 4:10 am

Getting to sleep at night can be difficult for many, however it if the problem becomes persistent then you need to seek help because you may be suffering from insomnia. Insomnia occurs in men and women of any age, although it seems to be more prominent in menopausal women and the elderly. Regardless, if you can’t sleep, go to sleep only to wake up and not be able to return to sleep, and have not had a good night’s rest in days or weeks then you have a problem with insomnia and need professional help.

Unfortunately, many individuals who have insomnia believe it to be something they can handle on their own and do not consider talking to a physician for help. There are three types of insomnia that affect people and the less severe versions are the ones individuals seem to try and ignore the most. Transient insomnia lasts a couple of nights, short term insomnia lasts from two to three weeks and chronic insomnia lasts for longer than three weeks. All of these types of insomnia make it difficult for individuals to get rest, and unfortunately the longer a person goes without sleep the more it impacts their bodies.

There are several things that may be the cause of your insomnia. Some of the possible factors include improper nutrition, physical pain, illness, depression, stress, certain foods, not enough exercise, and even too much exercise right before bedtime. Any of these can cause your insomnia, so you need to detect the reason for your insomnia before you can do anything about it. Once you determine the cause then you can work on correcting it. For example, not drinking caffeine or exercising before dinner, practicing stress management, and the like will help you handle your insomnia.

You should, of course, not live with insomnia and contact your doctor for help. Your doctor will offer suggestions and help you figure out how to handle and treat your insomnia. If you suffer from chronic insomnia and are experiencing poor concentration, accidents, nervousness, fatigue, irritability, memory loss and decreased memory to name a few. Your doctor will determine the best treatment for your insomnia and help you get a good night’s rest.

The SECRET GOLD MINE Hidden In FFA Link Submissions!

Filed under:School of Linking — posted on @ 3:36 am

Some people just do not get it.

They go to all the trouble of submitting their links to a FREE
For All (FFA) Link site, be it an individual web site or more
than likely, a member of a huge network of 1000’s of FFA Link
sites.

But then they miss it completely by avoiding the massive amounts
of email the result from such submissions.

Some people enter in false email addresses that clog up
everyone’s email including the ISP’s that have to send out
those, “User Unknown” messages.

Worse still, even if by accident, or if on purpose, they enter
in an email address that turns out to belong to someone else.

Doing this does bring you the limited benefit of having other
web sites link to your web site but you would miss out
completely by NOT getting visitors.

And if you do it on purpose, there are now legal ramifications
for entering in false info that then causes someone else damage
due to the misuse of resources.

The absolutely outrageous truth about FFA Link submissions is
that there is a “SECRET GOLD MINE Hidden In FFA Link
Submissions!”.

The SECRET?

It is the email responses!

Many people consider those confirmation emails as junk email and
or spam. But that is totally WRONG!

Why?

Because those emails come from people that PAID for the
privilege to send you those confirmation emails, Spam-Free.

That means that every single email confirmation that you receive
comes from a QUALIFIED BUYER, someone that has already proven
their worth because they SPENT hard earned MONEY to buy a
business service online.

That QUALIFIED BUYER is a PREMIUM FFA member.

And, NO, it is NOT enough to send an auto-response message to
those confirmation emails.

But that is a great first step.

You make your FFA Link submission. The PREMIUM FFA Member sends
you one confirmation email.

You are now legally entitled to respond - ONCE, with your own
Auto-Responder message.

Make the SUBJECT - TITLE a good one because most people ONLY
scan the headlines and delete what is of no interest.

You can use any of several good Auto-Responder services that are
available for FREE online.

We offer a List of FREE Auto-Responder Services: via
Auto-Responder at: mailto:freeautoresp@emailexchange.org

But what about all of those confirmation emails?

Some of the Auto-Responder services forward all your responses
to you for review of any that might have special questions,
requests, etc.

That still leaves you with the problem of having to go through
all of that email via your main email address.

Solution?

A FREE Email Provider that ALSO has a FREE Auto-Responder!

That way all responses go to your extra e-mailbox and your
message AUTOMATICALLY gets sent to everyone responding to your
FFA link submission.

For a List of FREE Email Providers via Auto-Responder:
mailto:free_email@emailexchange.org

Don’t forget to access that FREE Email account and manage your
email otherwise your incoming messages will bounce because of a
“Full Mailbox”.

In order to really TAP INTO THIS SECRET GOLD MINE, you must take
a minute or two and actually reply to those email messages or
visit the web site they feature.

By doing so, you open a legal, Spam-Free dialogue with QUALIFIED
ONLINE BUYERS of INTERNET BUSINESS SERVICES.

Once you open a line of communication with these PREMIUM FFA
members, then you can legally email them from time to time about
something you are featuring.

Using this technique, I have amassed a list of over 700 PREMIUM,
QUALIFIED BUYERS.

And, we receive a steady flow of visitors to our web site and
new subscribers to our newsletter.

It has more than paid for itself generating new streams of cash
flow and new customers for our services with the only investment
necessary on our part being the time and effort to compile the
list.

Keep the lines of communication open with this small, select
group of people and you will always have ready access to one of
the best LISTS of potential BUYERS for your products or
services.

Blogging and RSS: Predictions for 2006

Filed under:World Of SEO — posted on @ 2:29 am

What’s in store for us in 2006? Inspired by Google’s poor search
relevancy and making friends with Wall Street rather than its
users, disaffection is growing apace and surfers are switching
their loyalties to Yahoo and MSN. Conspiracy theorists believe
that Google influenced pay-per-click and the ranking process to
crank up their share price to almost double that of January 2005.

But whatever negative sentiments are shared about Google, all of
the major search engines have recognised that users are
demanding far more specific search, a trend driven by localised
search, personalisation and increased specialisation. These
three initiatives are narrowing the scope of the current
problems inherent in generic search.

Today, web users are demanding far more selection and choice,
with personalised content gaining the upper hand. This has been
achieved with syndication through RSS. Today, the web is no
longer about surfing and passive reading; it’s about creating,
sharing, socialising and collaborating. Increasingly, many new
websites are disseminating news and views through blogs and
articles.

RSS really did make headway last year - and expect even greater
take-up this. Instead of the web browser, users are increasingly
looking for content via news feeds. This allows them to see at a
glance what sites have added new content on any of the topics
they select as being of interest. This means less time is wasted
on checking to see whether or not a site’s content has changed.
It also ensures a more efficient delivery platform.

But it’s not just news sites that have converted to RSS feeds,
companies are increasingly offering information via news feeds
using WordPress as a seamless and integral part of their
website. This method of information delivery helps users
evaluate new content and, as a bonus, categorised sections of
WordPress blog are being indexed from the home page. This in
turn increases the volume of data on the site, thus boosting PR
ranking, and broadens keyword exposure.

Also, professional blogging has a very bright future. Internet
search now finds many blog sites on first-page returns. Many
professionals are also using external blogs, such as
blogger.com. When these keyword-rich blogs are linked to the
main site, it helps the site to grow. However, the blog should
be fresh, as it would be foolish to merely duplicate content and
get the main site blacklisted.

The third aspect of the paradigm is article writing. The aim
here is to provide interesting articles that, even though they
have limited time exposure on the engines, do find themselves
float to the top very quickly.

So the professional blogger has a lot to look forward to in
2006. And as business blogs start to take hold as the new
standard for marketing, public relations and SEO, 2006 should
witness a huge increase in demand for their services.

Are Independent Voiceover Artists Reaping All the Benefits of Technology?

It’s already difficult enough just to learn the business of the voiceover industry, let alone attempting to keep up with the ever-evolving technological aspects. But, I assure you, it’s a must for those of us making a living with our voices.

Hardware is in a perpetual state of flux with companies competing with each other. While these companies certainly have their board of directors firmly embedded in their creative process, some are or already have developed some of the neatest new tools ever. What I mean by this is that, of course, bottom line and profits are the impetus of the suits involved. But, the creative types truly want to assist the voiceover artist or producer in providing the latest, greatest technology in an effort to make our jobs easier and more convenient.

Mobile production is gaining momentum within the voiceover industry. In order for voiceover artists to retain their established clients, they must be available at a moment’s notice, ready to produce the voiceover the client needed yesterday. Before mobile production technology, the voiceover artist remained confined to their studio 365 days a year. It’s not just the money for the voiceover artist either. It’s the prestige and the pride of being able to provide for their clients. Now, the voiceover artist need only pack a few pieces of gear to take that respite from the confines of their studio. Enjoy a getaway in the form of a vacation. Vacation? Yes, vacation. Oh, you’ll receive calls while you’re relaxing on the beach or hitting the slopes. But, you need only take a short break to deliver the client’s needs. You’ve made some money to pay for that vacation AND you’ve met your client’s needs and retained their business.

One of the latest pieces of gear simply amazes me. This hand-held studio manufactured by one of the largest audio/visual companies ever, provides everything the voiceover artist needs to produce that all-important voiceover in a self-contained unit that fits in your hand! It’s all there. You won’t need to pack up several hard-shell cases full of gear for the road. But, it won’t come cheap! You’ll have to decide for yourself.

Software is also being developed which will eventually replace clunky, expensive hardware. This will be a welcome problem-solver for the stationary studio user. Do you use ISDN in your studio? Sure you do. Remember what you paid just for the codec - let alone the line fees? I happen to know that there’s a software solution on the horizon that will replace the need for the extra rack space in your studio and will cost nowhere near what you paid for your Telos or your Comrex! There will still be fees for server maintainence and you’ll need a good broadband connection - but, you will welcome this technology when it becomes available. A little birdie told me that should happen within the next couple of months.

So, strap yourselves in, kids! Stay up with the technology. Hell, by the time this article is published it may all be obsolete.

God’s Broken Promise

One of the common claims by young earth creationists is that if
Noah’s Flood were a local flood, then God has broken his promise
many times. According to The Answers Book, chapter 10,

“If the Flood were local, God would have repeatedly broken His
promise never to send such a Flood again. There have been huge
‘local’ floods in recent times: in Bangladesh, for example,
where 80% of that country has been inundated, or Europe in
2002.”(Footnote 1)

Is there any truth to this claim? Do the local floods we see
today constitute a breaking of the covenant God made with Noah?
First, let’s read the covenant in Genesis 9:8-15.

8 Then God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying, 9
“Now behold, I Myself do establish My covenant with you, and
with your descendants after you; 10 and with every living
creature that is with you, the birds, the cattle, and every
beast of the earth with you; of all that comes out of the ark,
even every beast of the earth. 11 And I establish My covenant
with you; and all flesh shall never again be shut off by the
water of the flood, neither shall there again be a flood to
destroy the earth.” 12 And God said, “This is the sign of the
covenant which I am making between Me and you and every living
creature that is with you, for all successive generations; 13 I
set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of a
covenant between Me and the earth. 14 And it shall come about,
when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen
in the cloud, 15 and I will remember My covenant, which is
between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and
never again shall the water become a flood to destroy all
flesh.” To answer this question, one must look at exactly what
the covenant says. First, who is the covenant with? This is
contained in verses 9-10. Clearly, it was made with Noah and his
sons, and their descendents. It was also made with every living
creature that is with Noah. At the end of verse 10, God extends
it to “even every beast of the earth.” There is no question who
the covenant is with, however it is interesting that God makes a
distinction between the living creatures with Noah (with every
living creature that is with you), and the rest of the creatures
(even every beast of the earth). Why would God make this
distinction? If all the animals were killed, and Noah had all
the survivors on the ark, then it was useless to extend the
covenant beyond the ark’s inhabitants. This indicates that the
flood was local, and there were animal populations outside of
the inhabitants of the ark. If every living thing were on the
ark, the term “even every beast of the earth” gives no
additional meaning to the text.

But what is the exact covenant? This is in verses 11 and 15.

11 “And I establish My covenant with you; and all flesh shall
never again be shut off by the water of the flood, neither shall
there again be a flood to destroy the earth.” 15 “and I will
remember My covenant, which is between Me and you and every
living creature of all flesh; and never again shall the water
become a flood to destroy all flesh.”

The key term to examine is “all flesh.” What is the meaning of
this term? This is tied to the beginning of the ark story, where
God stated the purpose of the Flood.

Morris and Whitcomb in their book, The Genesis Flood, (Footnote
2) say the purpose of the flood was to destroy both man, beast,
creeping things, and birds. The key is in Genesis 6:12:

And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for
all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. (KJV)

The purpose of the flood was to wipe out this corruption. The
main meaning for the Hebrew word for flesh in the Flood
chapters, bâsâr, is person or man. The Hebrew dictionary doesn’t
even make it possible to extend this to animal flesh. God is not
talking about the corruption of the animal kingdom, but about
man’s corruption. This is corrected in some other translations
(NIV=”people”; Amplified=”humanity”). The purpose of the flood
was to wipe out man, not animals. Yes, animals in the flooded
locations would be killed, but they are not the target of God.

The main point of the covenant is that man shall never again be
wiped from the face of the earth. Local floods since the time of
Noah have never wiped man from the face of the earth. Yes, many
have been killed, but never to the scale of Noah’s Flood, where
only eight people were left alive.

When local floods occur today, they come nowhere close to wiping
out humanity. The Answers Book lists the Bangladesh floods,
where thousands have died. Yet there are billions of people
still on planet earth after those floods. Clearly this does not
compare with Noah’s Flood, where more than 99 percent of mankind
was wiped out. Even the Tsunami of 2004, which killed hundreds
of thousands, cannot compare to Noah’s Flood.

In local floods today, less than 1/100th of one percent of the
worlds populations are killed. In Noah’s flood, almost 100
percent of mankind was killed. There is no comparison.

God extends his covenant to the creatures of the earth as well,
saying that they would also be spared from floods of the
magnitude of Noah’s Flood. Yes, animals are killed when local
floods occur, but they do not come close to the magnitude of
Noah’s Flood, where an entire species was almost wiped out
(humankind, except for Noah’s family).

The only other term to consider is “neither shall there again be
a flood to destroy the earth.” We cannot know the extent of
Noah’s Flood geographically…we can only assume that it covered
all the lands inhabited by humans at the time. Although local
floods do harm the earth, it is a safe assumption that the
extent of Noah’s Flood has not been repeated. It may also be
important to note that the Hebrew word for earth, ‘erets, also
means land in general, such as a field, or nations, or even
“ground”.

Conclusion

Clearly, God has not flooded the earth in the same way he did
during Noah’s time, with the same impact. God has not broken His
promise. Mankind has never been wiped from the face of the earth
again. This claim made by young earth creationists has no basis
in fact.
