Meeting Blindly

Dear Jen,

While browsing the personals at an online dating service, I met
a wonderful girl. We have been sending emails back and forth for
a while now. I am ready to meet her, but have never seen a
picture of her, so I am a bit scared. Should I insist on a photo
first or just go ahead and set up a meeting?

Signed,

Blindly Dating

Dear Blindly Dating,

You need to be honest with yourself and decide if her appearance
is what is most important to you. This person could either not
be happy with their own appearance or even maybe doesn’t have a
digitalized picture to upload to her personals or in email. In
fact, in my experience, some people don’t send or post photos in
their personals only because they are tired of people liking
them for their looks without getting to know the inside.
Whatever her reasons, it can’t hurt to just ask her. If she says
“no” you are no worse off then you are now. You just have to
decide if you like her enough to take the time to test the
chemistry in person sight-unseen. For that matter, just because
a person’s photo may be appealing, there is no guarantee that
the chemistry will be there when you meet in person. I would
also suggest if you have only exchanged e-mails so far, start
talking on the phone a bit before you meet. You will get a
better idea of how conversations truly flow between the two of
you. Remember…”love is blind!”

Good luck in your quest for love

The Latest Fashion In Hair Styles

Do you love to crown your personal fashion statement? Do you love to carry latest hairstyles? And why not? The latest hairstyles seem to be sweeping the world slowly. The life cycle of any fashion trend is close to just a few years, from the emergence of a new trend to an ultimate fizz in the end. There are the 80’s bangs that just do not come off from people’s minds.

A lot of things go in to decide for the latest hairstyles. For your ease, I have here categorized the latest hair trends. So, just go reading!

Vintage Hollywood Glamour
The old, vintage glamorous Hollywood look is well-characterized by the smooth and voluptuous waves. The side parts are kept really deep. To get that hot look, you can have finger waving and pin curlings. You need some beautiful accessories to just top it off nicely. The vintage accessories are kept on the one side of the hair and also at the backside. Get the items such as feathers or rhinestones. All of these are latest in fashion these days.

1980’s Inspired
Your hairstyle can get you a journey to the past. Get an influence from the time of ‘80s. You will have movement and texture, plenty of waves, short layers on the top and tangled curls. Just dare to sport an old eighties’ mullet, it will get you back en vogue suddenly.

New Mod
Better call it Super-Fly Beatle. It is a re-born version of classical mod style of 50’s and 60’s. It has texture in the crown and short lengths. The sides and back of new mod can go from short to medium. It can also have lots of texture or distinct bluntness around the hairline. It tends to be heavy, nearly rounded bashes that can skim your eyelashes. You may feel it to be a little annoying. But are you bothered with a little discomfort and avoid that great fashion?

Faux-Hawks and Mohawks
It is a hot-trend for both girls and boys. It has an enormously versatile look. It is also promising to imitate on just any hair length. If you have short hair, you can use gel or wax to simply direct your hair forward and then upwards in center.

Asymmetric and Disconnected Cuts
The extreme angle makes for a figurine feel. The blunt edges show cuts in the unexpected places. You may not get any blend here. It is really edgy. You can still tame it down by getting an asymmetric cut. The asymmetric cut has one side long as compared to the other. The cut’s angle can range from one gentle slope to plummet. The one side is kept too short. It further graduates to the length of chin and comes about the head.

Select any one of the latest hairstyles here. But do remember it should suit your face cut and the whole personality.

How to Save Yourself from Negative Influences

Filed under:House Of Self Improvement — posted on @ 4:40 pm

Watching the news can be hazardous to your health.

It’s a fact, especially when you’re watching events related
to terrorism, kidnapping, murder, accidents, or calamities.
These incidents make you worry and will leave you feeling weak
and insecure. Imagine the uncomfortable feeling of becoming a
victim someday. This will have a negative effect on your
outlook in life.

Your surroundings have a big impact on you. How can you think
and grow rich if you’re bombarded with messages that relates
“how difficult life has become” or “how poor most of us has
turned out to be?”

You can’t change your environment, but you certainly can
control your mind. This is where visualization comes into
play. Use your imagination, just as you would when you’re
still a little child. Imagine your home as a palace, your
simple meal as fine dining gourmet, and your nearby park as
your favorite vacation spot. Just imagine. Unconsciously,
your thoughts will transform the images into their physical
components.

If the media can indirectly influence you just by reporting
what’s happening around, imagine what impact everyday people
have on you. These are the people that you see and meet
everyday. These are also the same people who are expressing
their own views of what is right and what is wrong.

When we grow up in a negative environment, we tend to acquire
the traits and characteristics of people around us.

Many gangsters have been brought up by folks who have either
misguided them or have taught them the wrong things in life.
Through the years, they have instilled within themselves the
vices of people around them.

Here’s another case.

Pick a nice person, throw him in a group of bad-mouthed
individuals who incorporates swear words in their everyday
language. Sooner or later, you’ll notice that nice person
speaking in the same manner as the group.

This just goes to say that anyone who joins in the company
of a like-minded group will have a big chance of being
influenced by the personality of that group. So what
can you do if you’re surrounded by people who deviates
from your way of thinking?

You can’t just avoid them. They’ll think of you as a snob.
Don’t change the way you treat them, but simply learn how
to shield out pessimistic comments or suggestions.

Sometimes, they will dictate you to do what you are against
to do. Be firm with what you believe in. Do not let them
affect your decisions. You know that you can do what they
thought would be impossible. If you have to suffer the
ridicule, so be it. You will have the last laugh anyway.

Moreover, you should be with people who have the same
principles and ideologies as you do. You will be more
encouraged to continue your dreams if you have a support
group or mentor who will prod you to pursue your goals
despite the setbacks.

When I was starting my internet endeavors, no one (and
I mean not even one) of my relatives and friends believed
me. But I did not let their discouragement stop me from
becoming successful.

I remained firm in my quest to make a living online. I
made friends with respected internet marketers who shared
the same vision as mine. They have also experienced the
same treatment from non-believers; but they have proven
that what the mind can conceive, it can achieve. Through
their help, I was able to put aside my doubts and achieve
my goals.

You have the power to make your dreams a reality. Now
show the world what stuff you are made of.

Is That Apartment Hazardous to Your Health?

When you sign a lease committing yourself to a unit in an
apartment complex or building, you’re agreeing to live in close
quarters with strangers. You’re also making the assumption that
your building will be properly managed and maintained. That
includes such factors as air quality and adequate pest control.
As a tenant, you have rights, of course, but some of the most
serious threats to your health — such as carbon monoxide — are
ones you can’t even see or smell.

Particularly scary is the prospect of seepage through soil. A
landlord’s efforts to maintain his or her own property can be
nullified by pollution from a nearby commercial facility or
poorly maintained residential property. Chemicals such as lead,
pesticides can seep into the soil and find their way into the
water and air of tenants living in better-maintained properties
nearby. An environmental inspection is a landlord’s best defense
against allegations or plummeting property values.

You’ve almost certainly heard of “Sick Building Syndrome,” which
has almost become a cliche in recent years. While this condition
often is associated with office facilities, home environments
are not exempt from this plague by any means. Common symptoms of
Sick Building Syndrome — including eye irritation and
respiratory difficulties — may be traced to a variety of
sources in your apartment building, including your the paint on
your walls, a chemical used anywhere on the property (such as
toluene, for example), your air conditioning unit, clogged air
filters in need of changing, and/or the growth of bacteria
spurred by high humidity, poor maintenance or both.

If you’re experiencing symptoms of Sick Building Syndrome on a
persistent basis, you should report them immediately to your
landlord. Your lease should include a clause in reference to
your landlord’s obligation to see that such duties as changing
air filters are performed regularly. If it doesn’t contain such
language, make sure you get it in writing before you sign a
lease. Furthermore, tenants should be entitled to regular
equipment inspection and timely maintenance.

Another air pollutant of which you should be aware is asbestos
– again, usually associated with commercial properties, but
multifamily housing is not exempt. Within multifamily
properties, asbestos has been found in caulking, in material
wrapped around pipes, and in ceiling material. According to
environmental scientists, insulation installed in multifamily,
single-family and commericial properties between 1935 and 1978
contained as much as 50 percent asbestos. Insulation in the vast
majority of such properties has been replaced or contained;
however, some poorly maintained buildings continue to present a
threat to their tenants. When inhaled over a prolonged period,
asbestos can cause lung tissue to stiffen, contributing to lung
cancer and/or heart disease. Landlords who are notified after an
inspection that their properties contain asbestos must take
appropriate action, which includes disclosing this information
to present and prospective tenants.

Lead-based paint and other lead-containing materials (including
mini-blinds) also have received considerable attention in recent
years. The Residential Lead-Based Paint Hazards Reduction Act,
passed in 1992, requires landlords and sellers of pre-1978
properties to disclose the presence of lead-based paint or other
lead-based materials to prospective buyers or tenants.

The subject of numerous articles in recent years, carbon
monoxide is one of the most serious and most common air
pollutants present in multifamily housing. Fireplaces, gas or
oil stoves, or gas or kerosene space heaters are all common
emitters of carbon monoxide. The good news is that you can
protect yourself by purchasing a carbon monoxide detector. You
can’t always assume that your landlord has purchased one because
these detectors are somewhat expensive. By all means, ask.
Chances are good that you’re going to have to take matters into
your own hands and purchase one yourself. It won’t hurt to ask
if the purchase can be deducted from this month’s rent, but
don’t count on it.

Turning to the subject of pest control, before you sign a lease,
ask your landlord how often the property is sprayed to prevent
infestation. Can you get his or her response in writing?
Ground-floor residents are particularly prone to pesky visitors,
including cockroaches, fleas, ants and rodents. If you spot any
of these creatures even occasionally, call your landlord and
report the problem immediately. Rodents, of course, are
transmitters of disease, but roaches’ bodies and their droppings
actually contain substances which contribute to poor air quality
and even respiratory problems — most notably, asthma.

If your prospective landlord doesn’t volunteer information about
the environmental quality of the building to which you’re
considering a move, ask. Odds are, of course, that you’re going
to hear a glowing report of the building’s environmental
quality, and while you shouldn’t be cynical, get it in writing.
After all, you’re making a financial investment with your
signature on that lease. If the landlord wants your patronage,
he or she will comply without resistance. And if not, the
renters’ market is a competitive one; you won’t have to look far
to find a landlord who won’t blink at your request. Happy — and
healthy — hunting.

Uninterruptible Power Supplies

The loss of electricity supply is technically called as power outage. It is specifically referred to as “brownout” when some power is lost but retained some voltage level, albeit not enough for the minimum level required by a certain system. On the other hand, it is called “blackout” when the power is completely lost.

When power failures occur, your appliances or any other electronic devices are the things that suffer most from the damaging. Your computer unit is featured with a power supply, a device that is used in generating electricity to keep it operational. The switcher technology of this device will convert the alternating current line into direct current input. This enables the computer to start functioning. However, once a power outage occurs it will stop producing power. As a result, the computer will end its operation. As mentioned, this occurrence is detrimental to your computer. If this incident continues to occur, it will suffer serious damage and require extensive repairs that could run into a lot of money.

Fortunately though, there is a device that counters the situation in the form of Uninterruptible Power Supply or UPS. A UPS is a device used to protect computers and electronic equipment from the damaging effects of power outage incidents. It is a battery-driven power supply that is active even whenever sudden loss of power has occurred. There are certain types of uninterruptible power supplies with variety of capacities. There is a small unit type that can service a single computer in a home or office. There is also the kind that can provide protection to a business environment that runs with a big computer network.

Uninterruptible power supplies are necessary tools both in large business establishments with a wide network of computers and in a home/office with individual computers.

Stock Investment Research Guidelines To Eliminate Stress

This day and age presents a large amount of opportunities to invest your money. But sometimes it’s difficult to choose the best investments that are suitable for your situation. If you are interested in investing your money in stocks then this article may be of assistance to you.

Below you will find ideas on how a little research can take the stress out of stock investing and hopefully fetch large returns from your stock investment.

Find Investments That You Trust
The best way to choose the right stock is to research a stock company to find information that may or may not be desirable. Consider only companies, which have been trading in the public market for a long period of time. These companies often provide extra security and stability for a well maintained and branched out investment portfolio. Use the information you get from stock market quoting to determine if you think the particular company is a fit for you. Periodically keep yourself up to date on the companies your investing in, just because a company is stable now doesn’t mean they’ll be around several years from now.

Search for Recent News
A good way to find profitable investments is by reading news stories that may influence the value of a companies stock in which you are going to invest your money. By updating yourself about the stock market you can be in touch with top stories of public companies, which can keep you informed about what is going on in the market (company’s stock value is going up or down). This can be especially useful if you get wind about major scandals or negative factors on time and are able to sell shares before the price drops. Alternatively this will also enable you to invest before an upcoming event that may cause a spike or upwards trend as well.

Keep an Eye On New Technologies
You should also read news about technological progress and fields like health care and biochemistry. New advancements in these fields can cause a sudden rise in stock prices, quickly earning you a nice profit. Learning about new and advanced technologies before they become well known, can potentially give you long term benefits and opportunities to engage your money in other investments. Don’t expect each and every new technology to cause an increase in stock value, but there is a better chance for making good profits from initial investments.

Invest for the Long Term
It is important to know about long term investments. Usually long term investments give more benefits than many short term investments. Many short-term investments also do well (scheduling your purchase and sell ahead of time can also save you some heartaches); long-term investments will add stability and security to your portfolio.

Find Yourself Some Good Help
With not too much trouble you will find many other people investing like you are. Ask around, there’s a good chance many of them use a stock recommendation service or a broker they’re happy with. In this case they’ll gladly recommend their services and if you’re new this may be a smart way to get started - this should also help you to avoid stock broker fraud as well.

The Heart Effect: Startling New Information About How Music Affects Your Health

Filed under:Online Templates Resources — posted on @ 7:55 am

Twenty-four young, healthy test subjects lay quietly in a
university lab, listening to carefully chosen music through
headphones, as doctors and technicians hovered around them
meticulously measuring their vital signs. The study concluded
quickly and the subjects returned to their normal everyday
lives. But as the researchers began sifting through the data,
something new and interesting began to emerge.

We’ve known for some time that music is a powerful relaxation
tool. Music can decrease anxiety levels, lower blood pressure
and heart rate, and change stress hormone levels. It affects
your respiration, reduces muscle tension, increases endorphin
levels, and boosts your immune system. The effect of music is so
powerful, hospitals around the world use music to reduce stress
in patients waiting for surgery.

Now there’s fresh evidence on the power of music to affect our
health. Researchers at Italy’s University of Pavia recently
confirmed that music changes your heart rate, breathing, and
blood pressure. But as they analyzed their data, they found
something new, something no one had expected to find.

Dr. Bernardi and his colleagues were interested in expanding the
use of music to reduce stress in medical patients. Here’s how
their experiment worked: the docs recorded the vital signs of 24
test volunteers (12 musicians and 12 non-musicians) for five
minutes. Then the volunteers listened to six different styles of
music in random order. Random two-minute pauses were inserted in
each piece of music.

Here’s what they found: fast musical tempos increased heart
rate, blood pressure and respiration. Slow tempos reduced them.
Pretty standard stuff. But then the shocker: the style of music
and the volunteers’ personal musical preferences made no
difference at all. The only thing that mattered was the tempo.

It didn’t matter if the music was classical, rap, techno,
romantic or an Indian raga. Only one thing made a difference to
their cardiovascular systems–whether the music was fast or
slow. This means that the music you hear, whether you’ve chosen
it or not, whether you like it or not, is going to affect your
health.

There’s more: during the silent pauses between musical
selections, the test subjects’ vital signs returned to normal,
in some cases stabilizing at healthier levels than before the
music. The researchers say this suggests that listening to any
kind of music–fast or slow–could benefit your heart.

Finally, the study found that musicians were more sensitive to
the effect than non-musicians. Musicians may have learned to
breathe in time to the music, to become more alert during fast
passages, and to relax when the music slows down. Whatever the
reason, a good prescription for helping maintain your
cardiovascular health could be to take music lessons.

Praying Effectively – Understanding How To Pray Part 2

In our last study, we looked at understanding prayer. In this study we will be focusing on how to pray effectively.

Effective prayer is a goal that most Christians aim for in their daily life, and unfortunately this is a goal that few reach. Why would prayer be so hard to achieve, and to get results on a daily bases? The problem lies in our approach to prayer. For many of us, we have been taught that to pray we must “beg and plead” with God, and just maybe He will move on our behalf. I have also seen people think that they are exactly where God wants them, so they just pray “Lord if it be thy will” like that will do the trick for them, and what every results happen with that prayer then that is exactly what God would have them to do. Then you have my personal favorite kind of prayer, the “lets make a deal” prayer. We agree to do something for God, if He in return will do something for us. As a result of all these types of prayers, it’s no wonder why so many Christians have a very weak prayer life, and are defeated by Satan. So let us begin our study of how to pray effectively.

Fist let us take the time to see what the Bible says about prayer. Jesus said in
Mark 11:24
“Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.”

Here is the interesting thing about this scripture, there is actually two things going on in this verse. First is “pray”, and the second is “ask”. At first this seems like the same thing.

Well first let’s see that the word “pray” means.

The Greek word is proseuchomai: to pray to God, supplicate, worship, and make prayer – Strong’s 4336 reference number.

What is unique about this word is that it is the primary word Jesus used when he was talking about pray in the Bible. The word in itself gives us the meaning of pray. It means to worship the Lord. But how does worship tie to prayer? Easy, the second part of the scripture finishes it for us.

To ask, this is the only thing most of us knows about prayer, is to ask, yet as you can see asking is only the second part of praying. So some would say now “O I get it; I just worship God and then ask. Then I will understand prayer.” I would say no. That’s not the point Jesus was trying to tell us about prayer. Let’s dig deeper into this.

We have exposed the first part of Mark 11:24, let’s look at the second part. Mark 11:24 “Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.”

Here is the true key to effective prayer, Believe that you have received them, and they will be granted to you. Jesus has just giving us the key to prayer. Here again, we have a two parts. First is believe, and the second part is receive.

The Bible gives us many verses that tells us to believe, but for me the most compelling of them is Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.”

We as believers must believe that God is a rewarder, not a condemner. Most believers just believe that God will do what he wants, yet the Bible tells us, that if we come to God, we must believe that God will reward those who seek Him. So there is faith in God that these prayers will be answered.

If faith is a part of prayer, we have to figure out how I can have faith in this problem or situation, which I have been asking God to move in. That is simple, Faith comes by hearing the word of God, and the Word of God will show you what God’s will is for that situation.

Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

We need start to basing our prayers on the Word of God, and not our feelings, nor our religious teachings, and then we will start to see results. We have only one part left and that is to understanding the receiving part.

James 1:5-8 “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. [6] But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. [7] For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, [8] being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”

It says very plainly that if a man will not believe that he received what he asked, then let that man expect not to receive anything from the Lord. That is very clear if you ask me. If you will not act as if you have already received what you have asked for then do not think that you will receive it from God. That is a major problem for most people, how do we ask as if we have received, when he have not received yet? That is where faith plays into it.

Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Substance of things hoped for. What is substance? In the Greek it means “confident”, so we could read it as this, “Now faith is confidence of things hoped for. The confidence is the results of hearing the word of God. As you can see, that all this is starting to fall into place, and every part of the 4 parts are staring to work together. Now, on to the last part “the evidence of things not seen.” Again let’s look at “evidence” in the Greek to get the meaning of it. Evidence means “proof”. Let’s re-read this verse with our study definitions in place.

Now Faith is the confidence of things hoped for, the proof of things not seen. So in short, your confidence in God will result on your hearing of the Word of God. As you grow in the Word your Faith will grow as well, and that will bring confidence that God will do what He says He will do. You will be able to believe what you ask, and in doing so you will also be able to have proof through your faith, (the Proof will come through knowing the promises of God.) so you will not be a flip flopper and you will be in the right position and open to receive from God, for you will already be acting as if you have already received.

Now that we understand the second part of Mark 11:24, let’s return back to the first part.

Mark 11:24 “Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.”

We have learned in this study, pray means to worship and that Jesus told us to pray and ask. How can these two things be together in what we call prayer?

Matthew 6:8 “So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. This verse is used by many as a means of just praying Gods will on everything. For if he knows what I need before I ask, then why bother studying the word of God, and applying my faith, if He knows then, just let him do it. That kind of thinking will get you no where fast with God. Yes God does know what you need before you ask, but that doesn’t mean you will get it. You have a role to play in this as well.”

To ask for something is our part; we need to know what the Bible says about our situation in order to be able to be in the right position to believe and receive from God. That’s not that hard to figure out, but how about the worship part for the pray part of Mark 11:24?

Here is the best part and I have saved it for last. When you go into prayer with God, He already knows what you need, right. So, the worship part is just thanking God for what he has done for you. Can you see it tie together? We come to God worshiping him and giving him thanks, for what He as already done for us. Prayer should be in the past tense. Let me give you an example. Prayer for healing: Father in the name of Jesus Christ, Lord I thank you that you are a God of healing. Lord your word says in 1 Peter 2:24 “and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.” Father I believe that you have done this in Jesus, and Lord that you have healed me through Jesus, and now Father I receive my healing of ( what ever ). Lord you said I was healed, and Father, I will not speak another word that is against what you have said I was. The Doctors might say it, my Family might say it, and my body might show signs of it, yet Lord you said I’m healed and I believe your report. Father I give you thanks. Lord I praise and worship you, and I give you glory for my victory. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Can you see how that prayer is in Past tense? The prayer was as if it was already done. In that prayer you worshiped God (pray), you asked (my healing) and you believed and received from God. All in the same matter as Mark 11:24.

Prayer is not a five minute thing, if you truly want to be effective in prayer, you will need to take time and study the word of God. I know this sounds funny, yet as Believers the Word of God is God’s Will for our life. We need to know what it says, and when we pray, we ask God to do what He said He would in the Word. But if we do not know the Word, we get all these different kinds of noise to God, trying to con God, trying to make a deal with God, and trying to just tell God “you handle it.” Well my friends those prayers will not work. You have to show your self approved in the Word.

What if you are new to Christ, well God is a loving God and he will meet you where you are. But even a new Christian will be reading his or her Bible. And God will be able to show you what you need for prayer. As always I pray that this study has and will continue to increase your personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

German Sheperds

People love big, protective and loving dogs and that’s why there are a lot of german sheperd breeders.
The German Shepherd is sometimes called an Alsatian because that’s where they originated in Germany. Many Germans still called them Deutscher Schaferhund because of their original sheepdog function but the breed is not very old and was really developed from a variety of sheep herding farm dogs in the late 1800s. In 1899 Max von Stephanitz, a German cavalry officer, was president of the first German Shepherd association in Germany. Since then German Shepherds have turned up all over the world and they came to the USA as early as 1908 where they were popular with the Red Cross, the police and as guard dogs.
This was partly because they are extremely loyal and courageous dogs and they are very intelligent and retain specialized training for a long time. Temperament is what ensures the usefulness of the German Shepherd and since this comes from good breeding it is essential to find a good and reputable breeder. With a bad temperament these dogs are a disaster. They are highly territorial and will know and recognize their people and place by about six months of age. This is when their protective loyalty starts to show itself!
There are many german sheperd breeders and you should have no problem finding a good one, but just remember that they come in a range of colors and will protect you no matter what!
They have proved a popular breed over the years for use in both the police force and as guard dogs for security companies. They have a very acute sense of hearing which means that they are invaluable to anyone wanting to protect both themselves and their property.Because they are a large dog they are a very useful deterrent against theives.
