How to become a successful Dog Trainer?

While reams have been written and expounded on training secrets and the psychology of the dog one often tends to forget that the “mason” is the one who lays the bricks and makes the building strong. In this case it is the “attitude” of the trainer. Have you wondered why some trainers have “a touch” while others just get by? Well it is because they are in complete synchrony with the dog.

# So, to be a good and successful trainer, you will need to develop your skills in a holistic/rounded manner — knowledge, patience, affinity for your dog, enthusiasm, a learning zeal, and more should all be coalesced in a productive way.

# To be a trainer who produces a “top” dog you must instinctively know what motivates your dog. What is it that can be tapped to make him a “team” player?

# Your dog may take to some learning like a duck to water and yet turn its back on certain things — here your skills come to the fore, you will need to make the “distasteful” attractive and enjoyable. You will need to gauge your dog’s mood and change the training approach appropriately.

# Another important and often forgotten aspect is that you must work at a pace that the dog is comfortable with – for each lesson you must revise until the little dog has learnt thoroughly. Vary the order of the commands so that the dog has to “pay attention” and think – he must not mechanically execute commands.

Each step must be taken with steadfastness.

# It is important, for you to remain calm and to motivate the dog at the right moment. Play your voice, whistles, and hand signals in a way that the dog will recognize what you are about to say. dogs are so attuned to their trainer/owner that they will, after a while pre-empt your commands. The little dog will read your mind clearly.

# Develop your extra sensory perceptions to recognize the dog’s moods—if the dog is willing to learn, then you must take the day’s learning all the way. If he seems distracted — just play with him and execute a few simple lessons. If the dog is listless declare an impromptu holiday – spend the lesson time cuddling your pet, giving him a relaxing massage or take him for a drive.

# Never try and train if, you yourself are feeling low, irritable, or off color—it does not achieve anything. Take a day or few days off — the world will not come to an end or stop.

Never train your dog when:

·You are unwell.
·You are angry, negative, or upset.
·You are low on patience or out of energy.
·When the mind is distracted or there is too much traffic in the training area.
·When you are not confident on how to execute a certain lesson – postpone until you have time to clarify with your trainer or school.

Like all first class trainers you too should adopt the four Cs –Calmness, Consistency, Communication, and Concentration. To raise a prince you need to be a seer.

We Must Learn Too

To be successful teachers we too must learn –often it is our ignorance that leads to disasters. We must, constantly update our knowledge and learn better and more innovative ways to communicate with our canine friends.

Some tried and tested methods are:

A.Leash handling: The ideal way is to begin with your arms hanging loosely down with the palms facing inwards. The loop of the leash should be placed over the right thumb with the loose end crossing the palm. The next step is to fold the leash like an accordion to a manageable length. The loose end should emerge from under the little finger. Then the leash must pass through the loop made by the thumb and index finger of the left hand and across the palm. Hold the leash loosely in your left hand; from here to your dog’s collar the leash should have enough length to form a “j” In popular parlance this is referred to as the “control-start” position. This permits better control of the dog. The right hand should always be stationary while the left hand makes all the necessary corrections.

B.Footwork: At all times footwork is your biggest aid in training. While executing turns if you do not place your feet properly you could trip the dog and cause a disturbance in the synchronization. Moving quickly also causes forging or lagging. Footwork should be consistent and the foot closest to your dog should lead. Pace is crucial don’t race or pick up-tempo sometimes and saunter at other times. It is beneficial to place your feet in a “T” position whilst turning

C.Timing and use of body language: It is essential to move together. If you say heel and start walking even before the word leaves your lips then you are making it difficult for your dog to follow your commands. You must pause for a second after giving the command –this gives enough time for the dog to respond accurately. In order to establish a certain pattern, it is advisable to incorporate delays of 1-5 seconds before responding. Since dogs are extremely receptive animals they can respond very quickly to body language. It is for them an inherited trait. The pet will recognize your smile as a welcoming gesture. Similarly, towering or leaning over is considered to be threatening. Just raising your hand is enough to convey –a threat/displeasure. So it is essential for you to master body language. Similarly, hand signals help the dog perform many tasks.

Whether you are a first time dog owner or a seasoned veteran, your learning never stops as far as it comes to training your dog. Each and every dog presents different training challenges, and the more equipped you are to handle these training issues the more likely you are to prevent any permanent and long term future behavioral problems.

2nd Mortgage or Refinance and Cash Out

Filed under:Great Real Estate Tips — posted on @ 9:20 am

A second mortgage is simply an additional mortgage secured by your property. As a homeowner with equity in your home you might consider using a 2nd mortgage to pay off high interest debt, pay for college tuition, or renovate your home.

The advantage of a 2nd mortgage over a home equity line of credit is that you will receive your money in one lump sum. You can find 2nd mortgages with fixed interest rates that will allow you to make set payments over a period of time like your first mortgage. Fixed interest rates are the main advantage over home equity lines of credit that come with variable interest rates. Second mortgages have tax advantages as the interest is fully tax deductible.

Should you choose a second mortgage or refinance your current mortgage with cash back? The answer depends on your situation. If you have good credit and can find competitive interest rates you would save money by refinancing. If refinancing your current mortgage is not an option a 2nd mortgage will allow you access to the equity in your home. Keep in mind that 2nd mortgages typically come with higher interest rates than your primary mortgage because of increased risk to the 2nd mortgage lender.

Home equity lines of credit offer greater flexibility than 2nd mortgage loans. Most lenders offering home equity lines of credit offer checks or a debit card to access funds. This would allow you to borrow only what you need, preserving equity in your home.

Enterprise VoIP is making inroads among enterprises that cling
to their circuit switched voice networks. The lure of Enterprise
IP voice is having a single network to serve all modes of
communication. Enterprise VoIP introduces efficiencies into the
network, and allows for tighter integration. Certainly from the
supply side, we can see that Enterprise IP voice is taking off.
Enterprise IP voice is still in the early stages of adoption,
but is starting to move into the mainstream.

Awareness of Enterprise VoIP is winning over companies for its
ease of use/manageability, flexibility and operational cost.
Ease of use and manageability get high ratings because
Enterprise IP voice equipment overcomes the hassle of performing
mundane telecom tasks. For example, to change a user’s location
within the building in a TDM world while maintaining the user’s
current extension, physical changes would have to be made to the
network. For companies that don’t have qualified staff, they
need to pay for a service call. In an Enterprise IP world, user
identity is coupled to the phone’s MAC address, and not to a
particular port, so a user can simply pack their desk phone,
plug it into the LAN port at the new desk, and be up and
running. The convenience of Enterprise VoIP is a huge selling
point.

Other drivers propelling Enterprise VoIP include scalability and
the desire to consolidate voice and data networks. Implementing
multiple wide area networks is expensive, and complexity
increases as the number of networks and sites grows. Large
organizations seek network convergence, and Enterprise VoIP is
the way to get there.

Consumer adoption of VoIP services may also spill over into the
enterprise VoIP world, as was the case with wireless LANs. Once
people get used to advanced features available at home–for
example, visual voicemail–they may end up pushing for the same
capabilities of Enterprise VoIP at work. For companies that are
deploying Enterprise IP voice, the advantages outweigh the
barriers. The initial cost of deploying Enterprise VoIP
technology are capital expenses. There are also some technical
hurdles to adopting Enterprise VoIP although in the long run,
the future of Enterprise VoIP is assured.

Lord Byron, English Romantic Poet and Author of “She Walks In Beauty”

Lord Byron was born George Gordon Noel Byron in London in 1788. He became a Lord in 1798 when he inherited the title and the estate of his great-uncle. Byron’s mother had taken him to Scotland for treatment for his club foot, but she brought him back to England to claim the title and the estate.

Life in England

Byron was privately tutored in Nottingham for a short period. He then studied in Harrow, Southwell, and Newstead, and finally at Trinity College. Byron discovered a talent for writing poetry and published some early poems in 1806 and his first collection, called Hours of Idleness, in 1807 at the age of 19. When he turned age 21 he was able to take his seat in the House of Lords.

However, Lord Byron left England for two years with his friend, John Hobhouse, to travel through Europe. They toured Spain, Malta, Greece, and Constantinople. Greece especially impressed Byron and would create a recurring theme in his life.

After returning to England Lord Byron made his first speech to the House of Lords. Later that year he published a “poetic travelogue” titled, Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage, a respectable collection of verses about his recent travels in Europe. The collection earned Lord Byron lasting fame and admiration. Lord Byron had become a ladies’ man and the newly earned celebrity brought him a series of affairs and courtships.

In 1814 Lord Byron attended a party at Lady Sitwell’s home. While at the party, Byron was inspired by the sight of his cousin, the beautiful Mrs. Wilmot, who was wearing a black spangled mourning dress. He was struck by his cousin’s dark hair and fair face, the mingling of various lights and shades. This became the essence of his famous poem about her, “She Walks In Beauty.”

Lord Byron married Anna Isabella Milbanke in 1815 and his daughter, Augusta, was born later that year. However, the marriage did not last long. In early 1816 Anna and Augusta left Lord Byron and later that year he filed for legal separation and left England for Switzerland, a self-imposed exile.

Life in Europe

While in Switzerland Lord Byron stayed with Percy Bysshe Shelley, a prominent metaphysical and romantic poet, and had an illegitimate daughter, Allegra, with Claire Clairmont. After that affair ended, Lord Byron and his friend, John Hobhouse traveled through Italy, settling first in Venice, where he had a couple more affairs, including an affair with the nineteen year old Countess Teresa Guicciolo. Here Lord Byron began his most famous and most acclaimed work, the epic poem Don Juan.

Lord Byron and Teresa moved to Ravenna, then to Pisa, and then to Leghorn, near Shelley’s house, in 1821. The poet Leigh Hunt moved in with Lord Byron later that year after Shelley drowned off the coast near Leghorn in a storm. Lord Byron contributed poetry to Hunt’s periodical, The Liberal, until 1823 when he took the opportunity to travel to Greece to act as an agent for the Greeks in their war against Turkey.

Lord Byron used his personal finances to help fund some of the battles by the Greeks against the Turks. He even commanded a force of three thousand men in an attack on the Turkish-held fortress of Lepanto. The siege was unsuccessful and the forces withdrew. At this time Lord Byron suffered one or two epileptic fits. The remedy of the day, blood-letting, weakened him.

Six weeks later, during a particularly chilly rainstorm, Lord Byron contracted a severe cold. The accompanying fever was treated by repeated bleeding by trusted physicians, but his condition worsened until he eventually slipped into a coma and died on April 19, 1824.

Lord Byron was a hero in Greece and his death there was deeply mourned. His heart was buried in Greece and his body was sent to England where it was buried in the family vault near Newstead. He was denied burial in Westminster Abbey because of the perceived immorality of his life and numerous controversies. Finally in 1969, 145 years after his death, a memorial was placed in the Poets’ Corner of Westminster Abbey, commemorating his poetry and accomplishments.

Shortly after his arrival in Greece, Lord Byron wrote these appropriate lines:

“Seek out—less often sought than found—

A soldier’s grave—for thee the best

Then look around, and choose thy ground,

And take thy rest.”

An interesting and exceptional biography of Lord Byron’s life was written in 1830 by a contemporary and friend, John Galt, titled, The Life of Lord Byron. The 49 chapters give a good measure of Lord Byron’s complexity.

Front Packs vs. Baby Back Packs

For ages caring parents have carried their babies with them as they completed errands, chores and daily tasks. In case you haven’t heard, there are multiple benefits of carrying your baby with you for a good part of the day. Some of these benefits include:

  • Stimulating your baby’s development.
  • Raising your baby’s social awareness.
  • Reducing colic and stimulating quiet awareness.
  • Freeing your hands to take care of daily chores or tasks.
  • Simplifying shopping trips without having to worry about placing your child in an unsafe shopping cart.

You’ll find often an infant carrier or baby back pack is much more convenient that a stroller or shopping cart to tote your child around in. Selecting a baby pack doesn’t have to be a challenging task if you know what to look for. The first thing you will need to decide is whether you need a front pack or infant carrier or a baby back pack. Let’s look at each of these choices in greater detail below.

Front Carriers
Front infant carriers, packs and baby slings are the only choice for babies under 5-6 months of age. Before this your baby simply won’t have the head and neck strength to sit upright in a baby backpack. Front packs offer all the same advantages of a baby backpack. Most will hold your baby up to 25 to 35 pounds, so you can use them for an extended period of time. Still others convert from a front pack to a back pack, allowing extended use.

The biggest difference between a front carrier and a sling is that most carriers evenly distribute your baby’s weight between both shoulders. This helps reduce strain and neck discomfort. However, many moms prefer the simplicity of a sling for the first few weeks of their baby’s life. You’ll find that everyone has their own opinion about carrying their baby around. You are certain to find a carrier that will work best for you. Most slings are relatively inexpensive. You might consider buying a sling for your babies first weeks and then an infant backpack when you baby is old enough to ride in one.

Baby Backpacks
Baby back packs are perhaps the most clever invention on the market today. What baby doesn’t enjoy riding around with mom or dad on any given day? One of the best benefits of wearing a back pack is they leave your hands free to tend to any errands or chores you have to accomplish. Many assume that baby backpacks are only suitable for camping.

This is simply not the case. You can use a baby backpack anywhere you would plan to take your stroller or carry your child.

It does take some time to get used to wearing a baby backpack. Once you figure it out however, chances are you will wonder how you ever got along without one before. Most back packs are the perfect accessory through the toddler years. Most will carry your toddler up to 40 pounds, though some will carry your child to 70 pounds. (That however, is a LOT of weight to carry on your back). This means you can probably carry your baby around the first few years of life with a back pack. So now that you are excited about a back pack, how do you know which one is best for you? Here are some considerations to think about before buying a backpack:

  • Think about what you plan to use your backpack for. If you plan to hike a lot, you’ll need a more durable and expensive model than a casual backpack for just running errands. You may also need some added features like a rain hood or sunshade.
  • Consider your height and weight requirements. If you plan to use a pack and are relatively petite or very tall, make sure the straps are adjustable enough to accommodate extreme sizes. This is also a consideration if you plan to share your pack with a large or small partner.
  • Decide what features you prefer on a pack. Some packs come with a variety of features including a detachable diaper bag, toy loops and holders, bottle holders and more. The more features the pricier the bag. If you are working on a budget, decide what must have features you should look for.
