A Hardy Tree - The River Birch

River Birsch Trees are fairly easy to plant because they are
fairly rugged and durable. Yet to plant or transplant them you
do need to follow some basic guidelines. Two of the best
cultivars or River Birch trees are Dura Heat and Heritage River
Birches.

All people handling seedlings and small trees need to help with
the life support of your plants. Seedlings are like fish out of
water and need care which is often overlooked between the time
the seedlings are lifted and transplanted. Improper care means
higher mortality. Do not try and reinvent the wheel. You must
protect seedling from moisture and temperature extremes, as well
as physical damage. Seedlings are living and should be handled
carefully. For a higher survival rate, treat trees carefully and
plant them immediately. I like to have a backup plan for
planting if the weather turns bad. I will sometimes switch from
lining out the seedlings to potting them up if I realize that
the soil conditions will not be right for an extended lenght of
time. If planting must be delayed a few days, keep the plants in
a cold, protected place with air circulation between the trees.
Keep the trees out of the rain and wind. To check if the trees
need water, feel the media at the roots.. If it isn’t damp,
water the trees and allow the excess water to drain. In cool,
damp weather, the biggest threat to these trees is from mold.
Try to keep out of soil seedlings moist by either restricting
water loss with a water vapor barrier or by wetting the roots at
regular intervals. While handling or planting try to reduce
temperature and air movement around the seedlings. Windy days
can dry out seedlings so consider waiting for calmer weather.
Once your soil conditions are correct OUR FREE USE PLANTERS will
make planting a snap so its will be worth waiting for good
planting conditions.

HOW TO PLANT

Ideal planting days are cool and cloudy with little or no wind.
If possible, avoid planting on warm, windy days. The soil should
be moist not wet. Care in planting is more important than speed.
Make sure the roots are never allowed to become dry. Bare root
seedlings should be carried in a waterproof bag or bucket with
plenty of moist material packed around the roots to keep them
damp. Ideally, bare root boxes should be kept refrigerated or
packed in ice or snow. Don’t freeze the trees. Competition from
weeds, grass, brush or other trees is very detrimental to
survival and growth of seedlings. Choose areas free from this
competition or clear at least a three-foot square bare spot
before planting. Seedlings should not be planted under the crown
of existing trees, or closer than 6 feet to existing brush.
Avoid areas near walnut trees. Brush aside loose organic
material such as leaves, grass, etc., from the planting spot to
expose mineral soil. If organic matter gets into the planting
hole, it can decompose and leave air spaces. Roots will dry out
when they grow into these spaces. Open up the hole, making sure
the hole is deep enough for the roots to be fully extended. If
roots are curled or bunched up, the tree will not be able to
take up water correctly, will often weaken and die, or may blow
down later due to poor root structure. Take a tree out of your
planting bag or bucket only after a hole is ready. When exposed,
the fine roots can dry out in as little as 30 seconds. Seedling
shoots and roots lose water to air, roots require more
protecting.Unlike leaves ,they do not have stomata (closeable
openings on the surface of the leaves) or any waxy coatings to
help reduce water loss. If the roots apear dry they are probably
dead. Now I know you are thinking,”I will place them in a
buckect of water and store them there until planting”. This will
not work. Submerge plants for no longer that a couple of
minutes. Placing them in water cuts them off from oxygen.
Remember to remove the container before planting a containerized
tree. A helpful hint to all those new gardeners just starting is
to remember to always plant green side up. Hold the seedling in
place in the hole, making sure the roots are straight, fully
extended and that the tree is neither too shallow or too deep in
the hole. Fill hole, allowing soil to fall in around the roots.
Tamp with hands or with your heel. Don’t crush the roots by
jumping up and down around the seedling like there is a snake
curled up around the seedling. It is delicate. Fill with more
soil, if necessary, and tamp. Tamping is important. If soil is
not firmly packed around the roots, there will be air pockets
that can dry out the roots, and the seedlings may be weakly
anchored. It is far easier to plant the tree strait up then have
the tree leaning and have to adjust the tree later. (Addition of
fertilizer and plant vitamins at the time of planting is not
generally necessary.) Take your time in planting. Proper spacing
will help you grow a more valuable crop. I have tried to get
more production from a limited area by over planting and then
thinning, but I always have had trouble in harvesting ….
digging is slower and poor quality usually results for a portion
of the crop. Avoid these tree planting errors:

Tangled roots Planting too shallow Planting too deep Air pockets
Turned up roots (this is called J rooting) Planting trees that
are not tolerant of wet soils in poorly drained areas Planting
over rocks, septic tanks and leach fields, on sand mounds

CARE OF TREES FOLLOWING PLANTING Check periodically to be sure
that brush, grass and other vegetation is kept under control by
mowing, mulching, spraying or a combination of these treatments.
Always obtain advice from a licensed pest control advisor before
using chemicals. You ag extension agency may offer courses in
application of chemicals. Monitoring the appearance of your
trees will help you to detect signs of insects, diseases or
other problems. Apperances also help sell your product. Look for
foliage turning yellow, new foliage drooping or other signs of
poor health. It is easier to take successful corrective action
if the problem is detected early.

Over watering is a common problem in irrigated plantations. You
probably won’t need to water more frequently than every 7-10
days. Give your trees a thorough, deep soak and then let the
soil dry out before the next watering. This encourages the roots
to grow down in search of water. Frequent, shallow watering
encourages root growth near the surface and the trees are more
dependent on irrigation and are less windfirm. Animals can be a
major cause of damage to young trees. Porcupines, gophers, mice,
rabbits, deer and cattle are the most frequent source of damage.
In many states you may have to call your game commission and get
their recomendations on legal methods to protect your crop. In
our state, you can get help from the Pa. Game Commission to kill
deer that are a threat to your seedlings or obtain a free fence
to keep deer away from your seedlings. Over the years we have
lost more trees to mice than any other animal. Put rat baits out
on a regular basis. Over the years we have lost more seedlings
and plants to mice than any other culprit including deer and
rabbitts combined. You an see more articles about the care of

How to Structure an Email Follow Up Series

Filed under:Great Marketing Tips — posted on @ 4:41 pm

Marketers the world over use follow up autoresponders to

increase sales. But, many struggle to write a compelling

message series. Don’t let that keep you from your share of

the profits! Print and follow these instructions; you’ll

soon be following up with finesse.

(Examples in this article use the fictional product “Green

Garden Lawn Fertilizer”. Any similarity to actual products

is unintended and coincidental.)

Message 1 - Big Benefits:

Many of the sales resulting from your follow up series will

come after the very first message. Keep this message short.

Just take 500 or so words to flesh out a handful of your

biggest benefits. For example, part of the Green Garden Lawn

Fertilizer company’s first message might read:

A Lush Lawn: Green Garden Fertilizer will give you a

lush lawn in just 2 weeks! Density will increase up to 50%…”

No More Brown: Watch your lawn become 3-5 shades

      greener with regular treatments”

Message 2 - Establish a Need:

Use your second message to explain why your product is necessary.

First, lay out the situation leading to a need for your product.

Then, show that your product will meet that need. For instance:

“Lawns across the country are looking dull. Homeowners water

and mow to no avail. But, not those who use Green Garden

Fertilizer! They’ve created lush, beautiful lawns”

Message 3 - Tool Talk:

In your third message, show the lead how he will go about

actually using your product. Detail any tools or supporting

material that you offer. In the case of our fictional Green

Garden Fertilizer, part of this message might read:

“This treatment is a cinch: Simply attach the included

diffuser to the end of your garden hose, creating a

sprinkler. Run the sprinkler for 15 minutes each week.

You will see an improvement after just one treatment!”

Message 4 - The Wildcard:

Customize message four for your unique product. Try one

    of these ideas:

    • Have a customer case study? This is a great place

      for it.

    • Selling complimentary products? Detail one of

      them here.

    • Selling a real-world product? Explain shipping

      / tracking now.

    • Have a bricks and mortar office? Invite the

      prospect to visit. Include directions.

    • Are you personally a visible part of your brand?

      Include your bio here.

Message 5 - Questions? Comments?:

Your lead may be waiting to purchase until you explain one

particular thing. By asking outright, you can speed the

    sales cycle to a close.

Start the fifth message by asking your prospect if he has

any questions. Give him several ways to reach you, and

include your hours of operation and time zone.

Take the rest of the fifth message to answer some of the

questions your prospects ask most often. For instance:

“Are you excited about the lush lawn you’ll have with Green

Garden Fertilizer? I hope so! Let me go over some questions

our customers have asked in the past”

Message 6 - Testimonials:

With your sixth message, show off your satisfied customers.

Choose several of your best testimonials, and list them here.

Look for quotes from customers who are obviously excited about

your product, but that still sound believable. For instance,

    choose:

“I’m thrilled with my Green Garden Fertilizer! Just two weeks,

and my lawn looks better than it has in years.”

    Instead of:

“Green Garden Fertilizer is miraculous! It turned my back lot

into a rolling meadow in days - and that lot is PAVED!”

(The testimonials in this article are made up examples. All of

your testimonials, however, must be real. Fabricating

    testimonials is illegal.)

Message 7 - Last Chance:

Your final message serves as one last reminder of your product.

Briefly reiterate its most impressive features. Then, throw in a few

testimonials or a very short case study. Round out this message

with your contact information. Our example product’s final

    message might read:

“Over the past several weeks, you’ve heard about how Green

Garden Fertilizer can turn your lawn around. Customer Dusty

Dan tried it, and he says, ‘My lawn has never looked better…’”

Follow Up With Finesse

Automation means that good follow up doesn’t have

to be time consuming. Now, creating a message series is just

    as easy!

Importance Of Target

What is your target? What is your plan within 5 years? Many times when people ask us this question, we won’t be able to answer. It is not that we do not want to answer, but rather that we don’t know how to answer. The fundamental reason is that we ourself never think seriously about this question. Many will say, why do I need to have a target and a plan? Does that mean that by having a target and a plan I will be able to achieve it? Many of us don’t believe and don’t know the power of clear vision.

I myself have that kind of mentality where I think writing down of plan and target of what I want to achieve is of little use. I think it is only for documenation purpose. But however I tried to write down some of my target and see what will happen. After write down the plan and target, normally I will forget about it. Maybe once a year I will find some times to re-read what I have write down. However after a few years, I discovered that some of the target that I write down previuosly has been achieved, without me even think about it.

For example one of my target set a few years ago is to get a black belt in one of the martial arts that I learn. After 2++ years I wrote down the words, I got the black belt. Another example is that I have been want to become a Solution Architect in my carrer. I wrote down that I wanted to achieve it in 3 years when I was a software engineer. Now after 2 years I just realize that I am on that position.

Of course I’m not trying to say that everything that you wrote down will happens. It’s all depends on deep inside yourself, which target is the most important to you. The more important it is to you, the more likely it will happens.

So I hope start from today, you can start writing down what you want to become, what you want to do. It will not happens immediately. But if you are patient enough, it will happen after some times.

Cash in on Your Expertise

Even though I’ve never met you, I know one thing about you. You are an expert.

Don’t shake your head and smile that shy, self-deprecating smile. Modesty is not the name of the game here. This is about identifying your expertise, owning it, and parlaying it into money.

How can I be so sure you’re an expert? Easy. Everyone is.

Think about it. It’s impossible for any of us to go through life without developing a high level of competence in at least one area, and probably more than one. What is yours?

Maybe you cook amazing Mexican food. Maybe you convinced your two-year-old to sleep in his own bed. Maybe you make your own clothes, and could show someone else how to do it, too.

Maybe you recently bought a sound system, but first you spent months comparing products and features. Maybe you can do ten basic repairs on your car, or your bike. Maybe you know everything there is to know about Pink Floyd.

No matter what your area of expertise, there are people out there who want to learn what you already know. And tens of thousands of them are surfing the Internet, right now, looking for you.

Despite early belief that the Internet was going to be all about shopping, recent marketing reports show that most people go online for one reason: information. Information products are the hottest products on the Internet today. Increasingly, this information is delivered in the form of e-books.

All right, I saw you wince. Writing a book takes years, doesn’t it? Well, writing the Great American Novel might take a while, but writing an e-book is very different. Electronic books are a form unto themselves, written with a different goal than printed books.

With e-books, the sole objective is to transmit information. Visitors to the Internet want to locate information, get access to it, read it and absorb it – quickly. They don’t care about a beautiful cover, or the heft and feel of the paper and binding, or how a book looks on a shelf. They want information, succinctly presented.

An e-book must be only as long as it needs to be, to transmit the information. Many e-books are thirty pages of 16-point type, but each page is packed with the information the reader wants, and nothing else. A good e-book is a quick, enjoyable read.

After you write your e-book, publishing and selling it are much simpler than you may imagine. The Internet marketplace is responding to the demand for information with an array of resources for the e-book publisher.

You can take the text from your word processing program and put it into a PDF file such as Adobe Acrobat, or you can use one of the web-based publishing programs. The whole process can be completed in less than half an hour.

You don’t need your own website to sell your e-book. There are a number of sites that, in return for a percentage of the sales price, will display your e-book and allow buyers to pay by credit card and download their purchase immediately. Some of these sites have affiliate programs, so that website owners who believe your book might be of interest to their visitors can also offer it for sale. In those cases, you share a percentage of the sales price with the affiliate.

What you do need is a good sales letter. In fact, I’d suggest that you learn the basics of writing a good sales letter and put as much effort into that as you do into writing the e-book. The sales letter introduces the potential buyer to the book, and is displayed on the sales site.

You can also develop affiliate sellers yourself, by offering your book through websites you identify. For example, if you are an expert golfer, and you’ve written a book describing your techniques, approach the owner of golf or sports-related sites. Many of these sites offer a newsletter to their visitors, and might want to feature your book in their e-zine.

So there you have it. Identify your area of expertise, spend a week or two putting it down on paper, format it, write your sales letter, and put it up for sale. Then spend five or ten hours each week marketing it. When those monthly checks start rolling in, you might decide to get to work on book number two!

Basic Dog Grooming Tips You Need To Know

Brush your dog often .

Brushing will stimulate oils in your pets skin & keep it moist & healthy. Brushing will prevent matting of your dogs coat. Brushing is a great way to show your dog attention. Brushing eliminates dead hair in the coat that contributes to shedding.

Maintain the length of your dogs nails.

You can walk your dog often to wear down nails. Clip your dogs nails on a regular basis. If they are cut too short they can bleed & sting. Groomers usually charge a little less than veterinarians to cut nails. If you believe your dog will be aggressive about getting their nails cut it is best to take them to the veterinarian.

Bathe your dog regularly.

Buy dog shampoos & conditioners from pet stores. Do not use flea & tick shampoos unless your pet needs them, they can dry out your pets skin. Be sure to rinse your dog thoroughly, leaving soap on skin can cause problems. Bathing a dog with knots & mats will worsen them, be sure to eliminate these before or immediately after the bath.

When drying your dog use low heat. Dogs are sensitive to burning, keep this in mind while adjusting water temperature. Bathing your dog will cut down on chances of infestations of fleas & ticks. Place cotton in your dogs ears before bathing. Often water in the ears can lead to ear infections. By washing away dead hair, regular bathing reduces shedding of your dogs coat.

Keep your dogs ears clean

Do this with dog ear cleaner bought from any pet store. Put a small amount of ear cleaner on a cotton ball and swab outer surface of the inner ear. Keeping your dogs ears clean & dry will reduce chance of ear infections & ear mites. You can also buy ear wipes from any pet store to keep your dogs ears clean.

Dog groomers & veterinarians can also clean your pets ears for you. Many longhaired dogs grow hair in their ears that needs to be pulled to prevent ear infections. This hair can be gently pulled out with hemostats. Most people leave this to their groomer or vet.

Six Benefits of Working With a Coach

Filed under:House Of Self Improvement — posted on @ 1:18 am

Working with a coach can be a rewarding, enlightening, eye-opening experience, but many people wonder, “What can a coach do for me that I can’t do for myself?”

As long as you have an open mind, are willing to grow and stretch yourself beyond your comfort zone, and have a “gap” between where you are now and where you want to be, the benefits of working with a coach are enormous.

With a coach, you will:

1. Set goals and take specific actions to get them.
Somewhere inside yourself, you know what you really want to do. If you keep finding the way to your goals blocked, it may because you’re trying to achieve a goal that isn’t coming from your heart. One of the first things we’ll do is find out exactly what you want and need for yourself. Once you visualize your ideal life you’ll be much more likely to take the actions required to get yourself there.

2. Life a balanced, centered life.
If you want to have it all, you have to start with you. That means figuring out what you need and putting yourself first. Selfishness has gotten a bad rap over the centuries. You can’t be there for others unless you have first taken care of yourself. With a coach, you’ll learn how to be selfish and get your own needs met, yet still respond appropriately to the needs of others.

3. Discover energy you didn’t know you had.
When you’re happy, fulfilled, taking care of yourself, in tune with what you want your life to be and able to deal with problems and stressors as they come up, you’re going to feel – and look – better.

4. Live a rich, full, abundant life.
You’ll learn how to bring abundance into your life. You’ll learn that you can always reach for more of what life has to offer because you deserve it. There’s an old saying, “If more is enough, then too much is just right.” Your life will be abundant and you’ll attract more and more good things for yourself.

5. Make smarter decisions for yourself and your business or career.
Sharing ideas with a coach who respects and listens, yet won’t let you wiggle out of the hard work, will help you make clear, focused decisions. A coach has no bias or personal agenda, so you will get an honest, straightforward viewpoint.

6. Get a handle on your money once and for all.
Almost everyone has money issues. No matter what, you have to have it and you probably think you never have enough. Truth: you have more money than you think you do and a coach can help you find it and keep it.
